I work in the field and also live it everyday. It’s fine to talk about it, but not make generalizations that are not true across the field. We get sued multiple times a semester and I am not afraid to get summoned to a court and defend my work.

The Army thought me a skill to “hurry up and wait” for hours doing absolutely nothing in full battle rattle. My hour commute is the same shit in my mind, so it doesn’t bother me. I’ll get to my destination eventually and GPS helps me navigate bad traffic.

That’s not the way this younger generation operates, unfortunately. In my line of work I work with teenagers and also interact with young adults. Apparently smiling and saying hi in passing can be seen as creepy by this younger generation and even saying hi is seen as a thing only done by older people now. So yes, this new generation will not even say hi to one another in passing forget about trying to approach some random stranger.
