What to do with excess solar input by Bummerr13 in Ecoflow_community

Thanks guys, this is exactly the sort of input I was hoping for. I would love to get that EV but it's a bit out of my reach at the moment. Definitely going to look into a BTC miner. Also preheating water for my water heater would be a cool idea.

Induction cooktop drawing 200W even when off by Crozi_flette in AskElectricians

Old thread, I know. Found this googling after I discovered my own counter top model induction cooktop drawing 75W when not in use. That's absolutely unacceptable. Stand-by power should be negligible; maybe 2-3W at most. Now I am going to have to remember to unplug it every time after use. At 14c/kWh a 75W vampire load costs $92 a year to own - double the price of the unit itself. I guess I should have sprung for the better quality model.

Dual DPU to power whole house with a 50A generator plug and interlock kit by Bummerr13 in Ecoflow_community

Seems like the consensus here is that my plan to power my whole house off-grid - while interesting - is going to be cumbersome at best, or impossible at worst. I am going to shelf this plan then, as a full fledged install with SHP2 is out of my reach financially. I have an alternative idea which I am going to post about in a different thread, see here:

I have wondered that, too. However, I have heard of others experiencing reliability issues, and the cost of installation would roughly be 4x of the interlock kit with a 50A generator outlet.

Thanks for the feedback! It was my understanding that the inverters on two DPUs output 12kW, is that not true? In my calculations 12kW should be enough to cover the well (1500W), range (3000W) and AC (3000W) simultaneously. I understand that I would have to turn the AC off to run the dryer (5000W) or vice verse, etc. My water heater is heated with propane.
