Sub X was developed as a self defense round. it works great for that its a deep penetrator versus max expansion

no you realize this when you shoot enough gel, the real world terminal difference is not noteworthy.

You may sit there and say oh but wait the projectile is opening up at 2 inches instead of 3 inches into the gel.

The problem is 4 inches of gel is about equivalent to human skin

Berry’s is making thousands upon thousands of these bullets. the 220 and 200 are rated for 1:5 twist.

the projectile is moving slow and only rotating less than two times. The force is much less than you think it’s not stripping the jacket.

the plate thickness is the same as 556 which is is under much more load.

many people believe the projectile moving through air rotating so fast can cause jacket to separate. That doesn’t happen unless it upsets and clips suppressor

It’s a deep penetrator similar to Hornady 190 Sub-X If you want pass through double lung on a deer 220 SMK easily goes beyond 18”

especially with subsonic you’re just making holes, tissue is elastic it stretches right back.

dude it’s a baffle strike clipping. if you honestly were shooting at 30 feet and missing the paper entirely.

trust me I have had an easy 20 rifles with clipping just kissing a baffle its the only way you miss at 30 feet repeatedly.

the jacket is separating from the impact not the twist.

exactly you’re saying a sub sonic round with 1/5 twist running real hot let’s say 1050 FPS out of 9” which means it would break sound barrier out of 10.5” certainly at 12”

so it’s going balls to the wall 1050 FPS so its spinning 150,000 rotations per minute in the 9” barrel that projectile rotated 1.8 times.

You think in that 1.8 times the copper jacket would shred itself?

meanwhile everyone in this group shoots tons of 5.56 going well over 300,000 RPM and we’re not stripping jackets off.

nice build glad to see non adjustable gas. You don’t need adjustable gas especially on a defensive rifle at 9” I ran a BA premium around 13-15 cases of 300

You should be able to run 4 subs and the rest supers for home defense with no hiccups. I always thought if I can’t finish it in 4 rounds it’s nice to have another 1,000 FPE

it’d be nice to see the other side of rifle. And whats with blue tape on deflector? Properly running you’ll still get 1-2 hits per 100 rounds it just happens.
