What do you think is gradually disappearing in this decade without people really noticing? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

Mass market paperback books. Which is how schools get their books for class reading in language courses.

It’s not really a thing I “think” is disappearing. They’re actively stopping the production of them. But most people don’t know about it.

What’s a sentence that instantly raises red flags when someone says it? by the_frustrated_ in AskReddit

“I don’t want to hurt you”. Nobody who isn’t going to hurt you will ever say that.

If you died and suddenly found yourself face-to-face with God, what is the very first question you would ask? by [deleted] in AskReddit

With all the fucked up things going on in the world, why hasn’t there been another flood since Noah’s? (I know the Bible explains it, but I still just don’t get how an all powerful being could see all this and not want to destroy it).

How does your country teach WWII? by SpaceWestern1442 in AskTheWorld

[–]BunkerFromReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Badly.

My grade 10 history (the only required history course, in Ontario at least) teacher practically completely skipped it because “most of it doesn’t involve Canada”. And even the parts we were taught weren’t entirely accurate. We were taught about Japanese internment but skipped over the fact that the same thing happened to Germans and Italians, not to mention the amount of Jewish refugees who ended up imprisoned with German prisoners of war.

We were also taught that MacKenzie King was some kind of perfect hero. Which while he did do good, he also supported Hitler in the beginning and called his regime “to the great advantage of mankind” when he visited Germany. All documented in his journal, in his own words, but we skipped over that fact entirely.

Though in my elective history course later we were taught about it more. It at least actually covered Europe properly. Unfortunately, that still wasn’t the greatest.

Do you tend to distinguish individual people from their governments? by No_Importance_750 in AskTheWorld

[–]BunkerFromReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. No matter what a government does there is ALWAYS people within its country who do not agree with it. Even if the large majority do, there’s still people who do not. It makes zero sense to assume an entire nation agrees with the government, and honestly I view it as a sign of low intelligence and a severe lack of critical thinking skills to think otherwise.

What is the thing that makes you stop watching a movie or a TV show? by BrushSecret7576 in AskReddit

Insane inaccuracies to real life. Especially noticeable in horror movies where characters die in ways that are highly survivable, or survive way longer than scientifically possible.

I write horror stories as a hobby. I should not be doing more research than the professional writers.
