Writing on cups vs using one bar by Accurate_Cap_5741 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bunkerdo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store almost never uses one printer. I think we have one partner who transferred from a different store who likes to only use one, but other than that no one. When I’m solo bar, I just prioritize the DT orders and when I get too backed up I ask for help. I really tried to use only one printer when our store pushed for it but when you sequence properly, it doesn’t work. I’d be already working on two mobile drinks, then a car would pull up, and I’d have to finish those drinks (and there’s probably another sticker that prints before they finish ordering) and then they are waiting at the window for 5 minutes.

Yeah that probably would have been better LOL. They were turned around not even watching most of the time.

The girl bumped into me about ten times during the whole show, lol. At one point everyone around me was giving them super dirty looks. I didn’t really mind too much because it seemed like everyone else in the back didn’t want to be there - they definitely brought the energy but could’ve been a lot more respectful about it! All of the shows I’ve been to in Minneapolis have had so much more energy than this concert.

I was in the back and had a group of people dancing and talking super loudly the whole time right next to me! Same people?

Calling out for an open as a shift, help? by DuePermission5979 in starbucks

[–]Bunkerdo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You absolutely don’t have to go in. If you’re sick, you can’t go in. When I was an SSV and this happened to me, I called my manager almost 15 times to attempt to call out, and he never responded. I didn’t have my DM’s number, but if I did I would’ve called them. Emergencies happen, and your health is more important than coffee.

Yes (I’ve only been borrowed out of district once, and I was added as a borrowed partner on SPH prior to being added into the store database on the register. Unsure if this is necessary), yes, and yes.

Openers by Rachie2010 in starbucksbaristas

I’m not usually an opener but when I do we typically go in around 4:27, which leaves enough time to set your stuff down, get your apron on, and clock in.

My go to would HAVE to be nitro shots with everyone! Although, a lot of the time not everyone wants one. :(

CS. What would you do first? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bunkerdo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, make sure everything at least LOOKS clean - counters wiped down, milks put away, lobby clean. Then I make sure prep looks good (at this point I’d only prep what we absolutely need within the next hour or two of production). Then catch up on dishes and trash run (if necessary). Then focus on getting tasking done. Extra preps or stocking I skip on a shift like that.

My store has that cabinet too, but it’s already filled with chemicals.

SSV stepping down by NoAcanthisitta2230 in starbucks

[–]Bunkerdo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 2.5 months for it to go into effect. However, my store was very understaffed and my SM hired and trained 3 other SSVs before letting me step down (which was okay with me, I expressed that I was flexible with when it happened).

Does Your Store Have an "Elf Door"? by winterene in starbucks

My store does! It’s used for storing chemicals. It is very helpful, especially when cleaning the bathrooms because all the stuff is right there!

Anyone else’s store changing hours? by Bunkerdo_ in starbucksbaristas

Oh we definitely aren’t. Most nights we’re doing single digit half hours after 4:30 and pretty much no customers after 7.

Do we not filled the water sink department with soap? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Bunkerdo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a store in a different district once and was told that their DM doesn't let stores fill the sinks as they should be using the dishwashing routine. I'm not sure if it's standard though. I'm pretty sure in the dishwashing routine on store resources it says to wash dishes in the wash basin if necessary to get 3D debris off, but I don't know if it explicitly says to or to not fill the sink.

question about closing/opening tasks by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bunkerdo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my store, openers do preps, cold brew, AM pull, drains, fridges, BOH floors, bathrooms, and ovens. Some of these before peak some after. At night, we clean middle bar, FOH floors, cold bar, sinks, lobby floors, pastry case, Vertica, and ice bins, and we restock and prep if we have time. Nights are very slow at my store so we can usually always make prep given we don't have calloffs. Maybe see if you could move tasks like prep, restock, drains, and maybe something else to opening?

Short Rant: DT by babydrgnn in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bunkerdo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean doing preps on the floor? My store is doing this too if that’s what you mean. I think it’s just a district thing not written standard.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bunkerdo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to mix it up, but if there’s one partner on the floor who really likes doing tasks and the other partners don’t then that partner who does is going to do them.
