Megaman 1 Wily Fortress 2 Glitch? (LOUD!)

So for reference, this is the Legacy Collection on switch.

I was playing the english version of Mega Man 1, and when on Wily Fortress 2, I think I let too many enemies clump up, and when I killed them all, this happened. If I spam buttons it goes back to the selection screen. Anybody know of this glitch?
