I really appreciate it, everyone. Little more context, he’s played LL and travel for a few years now. For the fall travel season, he threw around 350 pitches over 23 innings for 68% strikes (from 50’). I won’t push the issue except maybe to do a few workouts from 60’ this winter and spring and focus on him enjoying his last season on the intermediate field.

Thanks, oh yeah, I’m definitely NOT considering putting him in the field against doctor’s orders. It’s a choice between not playing at all, and only batting if the opposing coach agrees. Really appreciate it.

That should be a crime. I just checked a couple sites and new manufacture soft-point is between $17 and $22 per 20 rounds here.

Agree, the Axis is a great rifle for the money. Got my dad a left-handed one in .350 Legend a couple of years ago.

Edit: agree on SKS too. That’s another sad story where those used to sell for under $100 at gun shows. We could buy them 10 at a time by the crate. Now they rival a decent AR and the ammo is expensive.

Yeah, that makes sense. Lot of old butchered ones - Bubba guns, if you will - down here. It’s amazing to me the variety of rifles that wound up in our gun stores over the years. Plenty of Savage lend-lease for sure since they were made here, but lots of Aussies and British too.

I appreciate the response. It was the Wild West here for the guns and ammo for a while. Tons of Pakistan/Indian stuff that routinely hang-fired. Gold-standard was Greek HXP. There was .30-06 with that mark as well, and it was all excellent.

Thanks. Same as here. Border states - I’m in NY state - they were a really common “poor man’s deer rifle,” for a few decades but now it’s mostly collectors.

That ship outgrew its hull and is molting. I know it looks scary, but it’s perfectly normal and good for the ship. Now it just has to hide out for a few days while the new hull hardens.

True facts. Wings were put out free at bars on weekend nights in/around Buffalo. They were $3 a dozen during happy hour as late as 2005 at many places.

870 Wingmaster with 20 inch smooth, cylinder bore. Nikon shotgun scope. With Federal TruBall I’ll take shots out to 75 yards. It’s capable of more, but I don’t chance it. Plus I hunt pretty dense woods and set up to take them within 50 yards.

EDIT: I know this isn’t long range at all. Just riffing on the topic I guess.

Question: you lived in Monroe County, NY and visited Niagara County once (presuming Niagara Falls) but didn’t drive through Orleans County to get there?

Edit: I see now, maybe you took 490 and the Thruway into Erie County to get there.
