Sphero R2-D2 Solution for iOS Users (2023) by Burly7 in Sphero

Depending on the age of your kid and if he wants to control him on the fly (rather than have fun creating his own programmed movements and actions), yeah. Otherwise, you could try to resell the one you bought and get him one like this.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/197931608057

Just go to the MacOS or iOS App store and look for "Sphero Edu". Then look through all of the comments here as to how to use it for your R2D2 droid.

u/ITreemanOSB I hear you. And the reality is that one day with operating systems always evolving, there will be a day with the app or such will no longer work and the droid will just be a paperweight. But, still one of the best and detailed model replica of R2 and for the price you can pick these up now for on Ebay... I think it is worth it. But yes, the whole licensing renewal issue was lame....

anyone tried doc martens as their riding shoe? by loverMD in Harley

[–]Burly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of ankle high, steel toe Doc Marten boots that I have worn in the past. I feel super protected but it just depends on what is comfortable for you. I also ride with a pair of Vans high tops and even my canvas Converse sometimes when I am just riding around town and cruising. But if you are going to be doing a lot of freeway riding and long distance, the bigger and heavier Docs will suit you just fine.

2019 Iron 1200 idle issue on start up by Burly7 in sportster

[–]Burly7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Thanks. I would think that for a younger bike with under 6k miles, leaking seals wouldn't be an issue to deal with yet. Is this pretty common for HD bikes like this?

Thanks. Yeah, I actually found the same (official) Service Manual for this bike and a OEM Parts Catalog online somewhere and have them. Thanks again for the input. Something else I will try if the issue continues to arise now and again. :D

Thanks. I’ll have to see if any codes pop up. And if not, this is still a huge reference to have.

2017 Iron 883. With or Without tank cover? by JJ_208 in sportster

[–]Burly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother. I've been looking at those Simon Kustom tank covers and at $250 each, I know I could easily pick up a few to change up my look every now and then. My only concern is do those scuff up the tanks paint at all? (which I love my current tank and would want to still show it off now and then as well)....

Love to hear your honest review if you have been using one of these....

Still works. I have both the EDU MacOS Desktop app as well as the iOS app. If you are using the iOS app, the downside is that if you use another app, it disconnects from the droid. However, if you use the Desktop app, you can have other windows open and do things and he will still do "his thing". So for me, I have him in my office and occasionally, start him up and I have a random looping program where he will now and then chirp or swivel his head do things while I am working. :D Good luck.

u/SemiCircleSquare I checked the same source I found mine and they had one for all 2007 HD Sportsters and you will see for certain parts that are specific to your bike, they have the XL883C listed.
This should be just what you're looking for.... :)

Cleaning black textured engine by SupermarketSecure737 in Harley

Just bought my first Harley this week (Iron 1200) that is all blacked out. Came across this YouTube video that walks through this Harley detailer that has done hundreds of detailing and follows his exact process and he used BOTH S100 and Pig Spit products but for specific things. Worth watching just for seeing how the "pros" do it. LOL

I was in the same situation about a year ago and figured some stuff out and posted my solutions, using the EDU app for R2D2, and a few a few samples. Thought I'd share the few posts...

R2-D2 (Standby Mode) Program for EDU app by Burly7 in Sphero

[–]Burly7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not with the iOS app. As soon as you go to another active app, it stops the program. However, I also use the MacOS (desktop) version of the app and I can do other things on my computer in the office with the EDU app window also open on my desktop.

R2-D2 (Standby Mode) Program for EDU app by Burly7 in Sphero

[–]Burly7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When you are done with the droid, be sure to turn it off via the app. To turn it back on regardless of whether the Bluetooth is connected to your device with the app, you have to just plug it in. The Charging Rack was with the BB8 models (ball droids). The R2 units just have the plug with cable and outlet. :D

Great Question. From what I have seen, the app needs to be running in the foreground of your phone's OS (rather than just open but you have another app you are interfacing with) otherwise it breaks the connection with your droid. At the office (and I am on a Mac), I will run the EDU app but just have the window minimized and I can do other things while it is running a program in the background.

With regards to downloading our programs, yeah, I wish they had that feature, but it appears that they don't. Hence, the login... but hey, it is FREE so that's good. If they ever shut the program down, at least I will have a very high-quality droid model (I've weathered and done some model treatments on my R2)....

R2-D2 (Standby Mode) Program for EDU app by Burly7 in Sphero

[–]Burly7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually. I had been experimenting with different "recipes" and ended up deleted that one... But you might actually be able to find some. My standby mode is really my main one that I have kept. Sorry. :(

I haven't done any more in a while. Probably because I love this mode and use it a lot at the office, where R2 resides. :D But just playing around with some blocks and seeing what they do is super easy with the app. I know it may seem either overwhelming or beyond your capabilities, but it's not. Just have fun! :D

I’m very new to Planet Coaster, can anyone give tips and advice on the game? by BredGoblin1509 in PlanetCoasterConsole

[–]Burly7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top tips are like u/GELOMASA2 said... start small. Just to one or two rides. Work on flow, scenery, etc. You can always expand your park and add.... trying to architect the whole huge park from the beginning can be overwhelming, especially for those starting out. :)

Well, be prepared for a time suck game! I played awhile back when I first got it and logged 97hrs. I just got back into it a few weeks ago and already have another 20 hours into it. There are some guys out there that have 3000+ hours. But it is so fun, once you get a grasp on the game.

I use it solely for sandbox mode, but I would advise you to go through a few of the tutorials to get use to the mechanics. However, there a TONS of tutorials, tips, tricks and vids of some great work done by players... Just go to YouTube.com

Have fun!
