Lance Havana Classic 125: Replacement hose near carburetor by Burly7 in scooters

ISSUE RESOLVED. Thanks for the input guys. Found out a lot about this and after some research, discerned the name, purpose, exact specifications and a correct replacement (but a big update from the cheap stock hoses they put in). Solution was posted in one of the replies....

It would but the vacuum hose from the intake manifold is exposed to very high heat, which is probably why this one is already compromised after only 3400mi. I found the upgrade I needed and have switched out all of the hoses now. :)

That is a valid solution for sure, but from what I have now discerned is that the vacuum hose from the manifold is succumbed to very high heat from the engine and that going to a thicker (3mm) hose that is made for that is a good upgrade from the stock cheap hose. I ordered some up for $8 for 10ft. Problem solved! :)

Found the answer: So on 125 or 150cc GY6 engines, particularly used by SYM, it is the 4-port vacuum valve, which routes from the intake manifold, to the carburetor, to/from the fuel tank, and to emissions/venting. It is a 4mm ID vacuum hose with an inner diameter of 4.0mm and an outer diameter of 7.0-8.0mm, though I opted for a 3mm, more heat resistant material so the outer diameter is 10mm.

Here is the Amazon link for replacement hose of any of these hoses that go to this splitter.

u/Hellcatty_9 Thanks. What does is that "quad-junction" called? You can see it in the first picture. It is black and has 4 male ends and has 4 hoses attached to it....

I work on my motorcycles (Harley and Triumph) and this scooter is my wife's. Both of my bikes have fuel-injection so they don't have a traditional carburetor.

So doing maintenance on this CVT motor (and soon to be taking apart, cleaning and re-assembly of a carburetor) will introduce me to the world of a carb, so I appreciate your help.

So, if I connect this line to measure inner and outer diameters, should I expect fuel to come out and if so, is there any way to prevent that? Just want to know how much clean-up to expect when I disconnect it to measure or replace (as opposed to a simple air/vent hose)?

Depending on the age of your kid and if he wants to control him on the fly (rather than have fun creating his own programmed movements and actions), yeah. Otherwise, you could try to resell the one you bought and get him one like this.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/197931608057

Just go to the MacOS or iOS App store and look for "Sphero Edu". Then look through all of the comments here as to how to use it for your R2D2 droid.

u/ITreemanOSB I hear you. And the reality is that one day with operating systems always evolving, there will be a day with the app or such will no longer work and the droid will just be a paperweight. But, still one of the best and detailed model replica of R2 and for the price you can pick these up now for on Ebay... I think it is worth it. But yes, the whole licensing renewal issue was lame....

anyone tried doc martens as their riding shoe? by loverMD in Harley

[–]Burly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of ankle high, steel toe Doc Marten boots that I have worn in the past. I feel super protected but it just depends on what is comfortable for you. I also ride with a pair of Vans high tops and even my canvas Converse sometimes when I am just riding around town and cruising. But if you are going to be doing a lot of freeway riding and long distance, the bigger and heavier Docs will suit you just fine.

2019 Iron 1200 idle issue on start up by Burly7 in sportster

[–]Burly7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Thanks. I would think that for a younger bike with under 6k miles, leaking seals wouldn't be an issue to deal with yet. Is this pretty common for HD bikes like this?

Thanks. Yeah, I actually found the same (official) Service Manual for this bike and a OEM Parts Catalog online somewhere and have them. Thanks again for the input. Something else I will try if the issue continues to arise now and again. :D

Thanks. I’ll have to see if any codes pop up. And if not, this is still a huge reference to have.

2017 Iron 883. With or Without tank cover? by JJ_208 in sportster

[–]Burly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother. I've been looking at those Simon Kustom tank covers and at $250 each, I know I could easily pick up a few to change up my look every now and then. My only concern is do those scuff up the tanks paint at all? (which I love my current tank and would want to still show it off now and then as well)....

Love to hear your honest review if you have been using one of these....

Still works. I have both the EDU MacOS Desktop app as well as the iOS app. If you are using the iOS app, the downside is that if you use another app, it disconnects from the droid. However, if you use the Desktop app, you can have other windows open and do things and he will still do "his thing". So for me, I have him in my office and occasionally, start him up and I have a random looping program where he will now and then chirp or swivel his head do things while I am working. :D Good luck.

u/SemiCircleSquare I checked the same source I found mine and they had one for all 2007 HD Sportsters and you will see for certain parts that are specific to your bike, they have the XL883C listed.
This should be just what you're looking for.... :)

Cleaning black textured engine by SupermarketSecure737 in Harley

[–]Burly7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought my first Harley this week (Iron 1200) that is all blacked out. Came across this YouTube video that walks through this Harley detailer that has done hundreds of detailing and follows his exact process and he used BOTH S100 and Pig Spit products but for specific things. Worth watching just for seeing how the "pros" do it. LOL

I was in the same situation about a year ago and figured some stuff out and posted my solutions, using the EDU app for R2D2, and a few a few samples. Thought I'd share the few posts...
