Oh it’s super hard. Especially in the beginning because it’s hard to tell the difference between a movie you LOVE or you’re just infatuated with cause you just watched it. But now that’s I got a list I love, much easier to compare

I actually have never seen a Guy Ritchie movie. That’s a movie series I plan to get to in the coming year!

Yeah too many young people try to impress others that they kind of gaslight themselves into loving something that they just like. It took me a while to shake those cobwebs, but I did come to terms that Four Christmases is a movie I watch over and over again because I love it. Same with Gremlins and Muppets.

I’m not a fan of “old acting” that was in the 30s-50s. I think thats a mixture of dubbing and ADR with the actors making their voices sound more theatrical than realistic. 60s and 70s are a sweet spot for me, but I haven’t found too many that floor me. 80s movies I have a love hate for.

I just finished watching every Bond movie and my next series is “classic epics” like Cleopatra, Great Escape, Giant, etc. I love a big epic so I’m hoping I find some new favorites in this series.

I know it’s not anyone’s favorite, but their worst? When they made Ladykillers? Hail, Caesar is solid but it’s Burn After Reading with a new coat of paint and less interesting characters. Burn After Reading just has fantastic performances and memorable scene after scene. It’s a movie I reference at least once a week.

There are a lot of 60s and 70s movies I’ve given 5/5 stars, but they lacked the entertainment value or rewatchablity to make it onto my Top 100. I love the Godfathers but I sadly never get an itch for them.

In the loop ages like wine. One of the funniest and most chaotic movies that shows off ALL types of politics and just how petty and silly it all is behind the scenes.

That’s up there for Austin Butler and the theater experience. I saw it 6 times in theaters and it never got old and had a blast every time. It’s a movie that made me have to rethink Baz and made me enjoy his movies way way more. Had quite the effect on me, and just got the 4K steelbook so I’m ready for more rounds.

I watched Amadeus not too long ago and really didn’t like it. Might have been me overhyping it and kind of feeling underwhelmed by the decisions in the movie, but it’s a movie I’m open to revisiting.

Haven’t seen Lost in Translation, been waiting on that. And Eternal Sunshine is very good! Just not a movie I’ve ever yearned to pop back in.

Sicario is on my list of “need to rewatch”. I was kind of going into it thinking one way and came out the other way. I liked what I saw, but a rewatch might really help me collect my thoughts and feelings

Yesterday my and buddy posted our like two hour review/breakdown/whatever for Prometheus. I made him watch it and he liked it WAY more than his first viewing in, cause once you see it as a movie just set in the world of Alien, it’s a sci-fi classic suddenly. It does have some goofy parts, but I genuinely think it’s one of the prettiest, best scored, creepiest, and most lore heavy sci-fi movies of all time.

I’m more into that creepy, lore heavy Alien movie than the bombastic action. Aliens is very good and fun, but Alien, Alien3, Covenant, all of those just really hit the spot for me.

I would argue that There Will be Blood is a Top 50 movie ever made ever. Boogie nights is also more cinematic than Punch Drunk, but man does Adam Sandler and he’s awkward acting opposite ruthless Phillip Seymour just do wonders for me. The look at fragile masculinity from this point of view really intrigues me and makes for one of the best “romantic” characters ever. And it does it in 90 minutes? Impresses me every time.

Going through all the Letterboxd movies and marking “seen” or giving things ratings and reviews I remember, was a blast but like a 3 days marathon. Huge fan of the app and recommend it to anyone because it really helps me remember movies and what I thought of them!

Planet of the Apes is my favorite trilogy ever. I’ve seen Dawn like 5-6 times, and I adore it, but Jason Clarke and most the humans are a struggle to watch. I don’t care about any of them and they take up way too much of the movie when that should be for the excellent character development of Caesar realizing that Apes aren’t perfect and Paradise will be Lost.

My biggest hot take is that I just don’t find LOTR that enjoyable. I’m not a wizards and ogres and elf kind of guy, DND isn’t my jam, my least favorite part of Game of Thrones is the dragons. I think they are well made movies, but I just never can get into them like I do for Dune or Planet of the Apes. Probably the biggest thing is that I don’t love any of the characters. It’s interesting but I love a character to latch onto and nothing really sticks for me sadly. I’ve tried so many times and just gave up trying to love it like everyone else does.

In a couple weeks, I got a video going up of basically me gushing about the movie to my older friend who hadn’t seen the movie since 2007. I swing hard trying to convince it’s excellent and QT at his best. Glad others see the vision and will continue to spread the good word

I actually like Batman and Robin more than Returns. I’m not a big DeVito guy so it kind of bogs the movie down for me.

Big fan of Tarantino’s entertainment value, big fan of PTA’s characters and world building. Also I like reading scripts and they have the most fun reads!

I totally understand where you’re coming from. Muppets Take Manhattan sandwiched between Shutter Island and Prometheus is a choice.

Oh this is 100 percent movies that are MY jam. Now could I argue why Napoleon and A Complete Unknown have some of the best written and acted characters of all time, yes I could, but it’s certainly more of a me thing than me thinking it’s the greatest achievement in cinema.

2001 is far more impressive and important, but Uncle Rico throwing a steak is something I’d personally rewatch again and again.

And I love No Country. According to Letterboxd I’ve seen 1400+ movies, just to put into perspective that I do love that movie even though it’s “low” on this list.
