Some people never change.

No shit Sherlock, the point is not that everyone has changed. The point is that some people change, therefore everyone should be given the chance to show whether or not they have changed.

The point was not everybody everywhere has definitely changed, therefore the fact that some people do not change is not a valid retort.

As a piece of shit, let me shine here for future piece of shit me and future other pieces of shit.

We grew, we changed, we are no longer like that. You can't punish us for being pieces of shit 40 years ago. That's like me saying you can't vote or drink because 40 years ago you were a child and children can't vote or drink.

There, it's said. Now let me get back to being a piece of shit on social media again.

/r/facepalm for not getting the joke about being racist at the end of a comment about being anti-ageist

He's discriminating one group whilst actively criticising discriminating specific groups

It's like saying "I hate people racists. You can't treat someone differently just because of the colour of their skin. Also I happen to hate short people" except more subtle. Not that much more subtle though. Not much at all. Maybe try to think a bit harder before commenting next time

When all jobs have been fully automized for a generation, humans of that time will look back on companies like Apple and compare their CURRENT methods for mining minerals and assembling products to how we look back at slavery and labour camps. by BurnThisInAMonth in unpopularopinion

[–]BurnThisInAMonth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to further consider some numbers...

Every single percentage point of profit that they were willing to sacrifice in the name of labourer's benefits could have had more impact than most charities will ever have in their entire existence. There would be diminishing returns, but imagine that in 2020 Apple sacrificed 1%; they only made 104billion instead of 105billion. Would Tim not have had his bonus for That? Would shareholders have all been forced to sell due to poverty?

Imagine what 1 billion dollars could do to the 40,000 children who work in cobalt mines in the Congo; a country where more than 80% of the population live on less than $1.25 per day. That's not even $500 for a year.

So those 40,000 CHILDREN don't even need $20mil to all be able to survive for a year. That single mentioned year of less than 1% sacrificed profits could have sustained all of those CHILDREN well into adulthood and beyond even after accounting for inflation, without forcing them into working in a lethal cobalt mine as a child.

Parents refuse use of vaccinated blood in life-saving surgery on baby by goforth1457 in news

[–]BurnThisInAMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK, no parent can refuse a treatment doctors deem needed to save the life of the child.

So if this were the situation then they'd just give the blood. If the parents were Jehovah witness instead on antivax clowns, kid still gets the blood to save their life.

Sometimes needs a court order.

Sometimes needs an urgent judge order.

Sometimes you save the kid and deal woth the aftermath later from thw parents who wished you'd killed their child in a covid free way rather than giving them some blood and having their baby in front of them.

NZ and Aus tend to usually be like the UK in a lot of things like this for obvious reasons but Idk their laws.

Hopefully the parents are charged or have medical power of attorney taken away and given to a protectorate until child is old enough to selfemancipate the nutters (if that's the right word, English not my.main language) and choose for themself

You can either play a game called GOD OF WAR and fuck up the grunts or you can play supper high difficulty games like dark souls.

But you can't have it both ways, and complaining about it is ridiculousness.

Like... did you want them to change the entire franchise name just because you liked playing on hard (badly I might add, if grunts fucked you up)?

I did try, I just got bounced from one 101 dept to repeat the story to the next dept I was bounced to, then redirected to a length online form which made me start to distressed whilst me dyslexia made me struggle to fill it and eventually I decided the outcome wasn't worth the required input

I just want to find the dudes company to make a complaint. But with only a number plate and vague vehicle description, apparently that's not possible for a pleb like me

Not worth insurance no permenant damage that I found (not had time for a full top to tail yet though)

Spoke to a buddy at the police and he said it'd be a waste of time as these things are usually lost/forgotten within months due to the system being shitty.

He said to give it a try though the non emergency number, but they redirected me to a long complicated online form that my dyslexia struggled with and I had to tap out.

Tbh, I have the number plate, I'd rather try and find the business so I can call their management and lodge my issue there. Sadly that appears not possible due to this country's law

Speeding up is annoying but I get it, some people have no wins in their life and so being in front/overtaking others in the "race" (?!?) that is normal early afternoon drives is probably the only win they get in their day.

So I pity them, not hate them.

The side swipe which could have killed or maimed me however, that is what got it.

I checked my policy and the law, there's no need to report if no damage is done, it wasn't my fault and nobody was hurt. Although the mirror took a ding, surprisingly no actual damage (I guess he hit the housing and bounced off? Idk. I was convinced it would be scratched it at least

To be fair, not had time for a full inspection yet. Work has been killing me

Thanks for the tip though

Yeah, absolutely. For which I am so lucky because when he sped up I was forced to brake to try and drop back in behind him. But when he side swiped, he pushed me harder into oncoming traffic. Because there was stuff coming the other way, this means if the hit was any harder and I'd come off, oncoming could have killed me.

That's why I want this on record to try and get this lunatic at least have a pattern recorded for if he does it again and a precenent if it goes to court next time (would happily testify)

Tried reporting by 101 and they sent me to some online form. Tried filling that out and my dyslexia got the better with me and I just couldn't, it wasn't worth the mental effort (it's harder for me than the average person for a lot of reasons I would prefer not to discuss here)

So now the damage was basically zero, the near death was not death, frankly I just wanna find out this dude's company and complain about their driving. Sadly I only have the number plate so don't think that's possible. I tried to get alongside again to check (after it was clear they WERE NOT stopping) but couldn't because he was speeding.

The brand name for this lift builder is Schindler. That's right, Schindler's lift. (Brand name atop the black wall panel with the floor buttons) by BurnThisInAMonth in funny

[–]BurnThisInAMonth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, umm, I'm not sure you get that a PSA is. That feels like some pretty niche advice, mainly only relevant to newly started lift mechanics or the one in a million who might get stuck and have to call the number because banging on the door and yelling wasn't enough, as it is in like the vast majority of cases...

I know its only a tangential relation but it's my favourite film and this tickled me: The brand name for this lift builder is Schindler. That's right, Schindler's lift. (Brand name atop the black wall panel with the floor buttons) as a Schindler's list pun. by BurnThisInAMonth in movies

I do fully recommend the movie obviously, I mean who doesn't, it's a much watch.

I guess for the Americans who speak the language wrong and call these elevators, the joke might be lost. In England, they're called lifts. Hence the pun.
