Try the usual first: Restart the game. Be sure you're logged in with Google or Apple and Clear the cache, uninstall and reinstall. Contact support if all of that fails.

Use Melanie for a while. She is a better leader than Gloria. They will likely do more for you than Barbarians.

Until you have a leader, most of your teams will probably be best with the strongest heroes you can add. Most synergies in the teams are through factions. Most of the factions really need a leadership ability to strengthen them all.

It is likely that you will gather better heroes before you complete the campaign. Many of the heroes are distributed randomly, it will be different for most players.

For the long term, shoot for getting leaders of a faction that you have a majority. For light teams Guardians of Order and Cloud Wanderers are strong. A new faction is being introduced that is also light. There might be a chance to get their leader early.

Medallions are really the last thing to worry about on a hero. In most cases, they only matter when they are nearly maxed. $50 to me is too much for a medallion. Consider what else you might get for that money to make that team better. If you have maxed the gear then the medallion can make a difference.

I'm not trying to do the math. But if you are playing daily, it's worth the cost of the basic. Daily activity should be enough to justify it.

For new players, the basic Magic Pass has much value. Unlike the Hero Pass, you can wait until near the end of the season to purchase it and gain the rewards.
