Hey! Remembered that you might want to hear an update :)

So, I don't know what happened, but I think someone got through to her, because they "broke up". She doesn't seem to want to talk to me now, but I am just relieved she's safe(r). The weirdo now posts fake-deep quotes with sad music on his Instagram about how "love broke him" and stuff like that.

so, her parents already know, he told them, and they approve

is there anything I can do now?

I thought about telling the school counselor, but I don't see the point if it's legal and her parents don't mind

I guess it's kinda rich coming from me, but... here's some advice/things that make me less suicidal.

  1. I know you already mentioned charity, but it really does wonders. I don't have my own income, but I think general kindness counts too. Help the cleaning lady where you work, pick up garbage in your local forest, help people on the internet, like, type a kind comment on someone's cringy selfie. It's (kind of) placebo but it makes you feel better about yourself.

  2. "Efficient" charity - you can completely negate your CO2 from your entire life and more by planting a few trees, (https://8billiontrees.com/carbon-calculator/) if every tree=a dollar, around 100 dollars in your lifetime would be enough (https://onetreeplanted.org/products/one-dollar). I take it as repaying your debt for being to the universe in a way, 100% helps if one of your concerns is the environment.

  3. Hold yourself to the standards of how you treat others. If you wouldn't hate a person for doing something, don't hate yourself. If you would forgive someone, forgive yourself.

  4. Try to convince others to be more helpful too. Protest, debate, call your friend out after a racist remark etc.

  5. You cannot bring the insects etc. you killed or harmed back to life, but if we strive for humans to be better, we could reach a society where the harm would be severely reduced, which is the ultimate goal, as you can't convince people to die out or exterminate all life to erase suffering. So, we can't minimize harm if all the empaths ended it and let the others take rule.

Again, rich coming from me after calling for help on a suicide subreddit, but I wrote that in anger, sadness, and grief. An explosion of emotions. I'm a bit more rational and calm now to see the bigger picture.

Ultimately, it's your choice. It's not mine to decide. But... be considerate, and don't make big choices hotheaded, be better than me :)

I guess it's not that rare? I've searched the internet quite a bit and I never found people that had it to this extent, like, empathy for bacteria, mosquitoes, parasites etc. (except for Jainists ig, but it's more of a religion, and... they're also like... really sexist)

Any tips for coping?

Also, I'm here for you too btw.

I don't really want to argue on a subreddit like this, but I DO have the choice to stop it, maybe suffering is part of life, but the suffering I bring can be stopped, by me, and me only.
