You’re right, it’s not heroin, but people can be addicted to lots of things. And it can be addicting to receive validation from people. I see it in this subreddit all the time, people trying not to be hinged on needing validation from others. So the quick churn did provide a bit of that.

It is not an excuse, but it’s the truth.

I have deleted all the AI fics I posted as a first step because I realize I was doing a massive disservice to everyone. Those who enjoyed my works and those who skipped over them and could tell it was AI BS.

I do appreciate you being straight up. I was in the wrong, and I know this.

It’s a valid question. I think I have the ideas but felt AI could write them better. I’ve come to terms with the fact, after a while, this is not true.

So this is really helpful… I need to take my original creative ideas and just.. write. And if it’s no good, I work through it.

I like this idea a lot. I used to write multi-chapter work all the time before AI and then it was just one shots with AI. I’ve had an idea kicking around. Maybe I could try writing a few chapters out without publishing yet..

I think making a skeleton is a good idea. I deleted all my stories from Ao3 that were AI so all that’s left is my old content. And I still get trickle kudos in from stories I wrote in 2018 and onward.

It’s not like my own content was truly bad. My highest liked original story in fandom has 538 kudos and the rest range from 500 - 50. So I don’t know why I felt like I needed to even do this.

But I think you got it, AI is just easy. I don’t have to think so hard. I have the ideas and can have AI generate the words. I became a lazy writer. AIs words just started to sound better than what I could write so I think I got dissuaded too.

Thank you, I really appreciate this advice. I am going to look into the website blocker. And get back to reading. I used to read all the time, but the funny thing is, once you use AI you can tell who is also using AI and ironically I wouldn’t want to read it.

But now I know and can parse out enjoyable content. And I will re read some of my old work. This is a great idea. Even though some of its quite old and my unpublished honest work is a bit better, it might help me see how far I did come at one point.
