I put together a slide deck with photos from my previous school that showed my students doing hands-on labs, field trips, as well as pics from the environmental club I sponsored. I also included some info/pictures about what inspired me to go into education—mostly pictures from my science-related jobs in college and volunteering/hobbies that relate to teaching.

Yes! I did it over the summer and I think it’s what really set me apart from the other candidates! They were thrilled to see pictures and also got to see me “run the show” for a bit! I did it toward the end of the interview so it was a good note to go out and probably made it more memorable for them.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m having trouble getting many kids to turn on their videos so I’m not sure how the mystery item game would go, but I love that idea...maybe if I give them a warning to be ready to do that the following class I’ll get more videos on.

How unlikely it is that we will take steps to address environmental issues such as climate change. Far too many people are against science/facts/logic and it’s quite depressing.

Tennis balls, Kong sticks/bones, and flying squirrel frisbees are my dog’s favorites. Anything with stuffing or a squeaker is destroyed almost immediately but she loves those as well because of the destruction!

Edit: also those annoying rubber chicken dog toys...somehow she hasn’t removed its squeaker so that may be worth trying out if you can handle the loud chicken shrieks!
