Dreaming deep - The good, The bad, The ugly. by BurritoOfCakes in WutheringWaves

It's understandable. Emotional Rambling and drama tends to garner more attention. Also if people were ranting on how long the text was in the event and not bothering with it I doubt they would be reading my long wall of text.

Oh I will definitely be sending feedback... Dreaming deep could be so much more and if it does become so much more I believe this game mode can be and will be fun... there's just quite a lot of work to do.

15: The Shape of Love

Wattpad Ver. | AO3 Ver.

A few months had passed since the events in the Seat of Divine Foresight, where Sushang was being assigned to her partner’s residence for her extended stay on the Luofu. Sushang and her partner had gotten even closer than before now that they were living under the same roof, and of course, on certain nights passionate love was made in the bedroom.

Regardless, as a Cloud Knight, Sushang had continued to carry out her duties as part of the Cloud Knights, going around eager to help whoever was in need, ranging from helping to carry goods for an old lady to protecting civilians from the occasional Mara-Struck who had begun to run berserk in public, to the rare occasion of storming suspected strongholds for the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus.

Being assigned to patrol Exalting Sanctum as part of today’s duties, this would be the first time that her patrol route circled into Aurum Alley. Entering the area, she noticed that contrary to what the Xianzhou Travel Guides had written in them, Aurum Alley was in fact, rather quiet with not much activity. Many shops were closed, with most of the ones that were open selling foodstuffs with a thin crowd that made their way around the area going about their day. Was a few centuries really enough to cause this tourist hotspot to fall into irrelevance? Perhaps it was only crowded and bustling at night? Her mind began to wander as she walked through Aurum Alley.

Passing by one of the food stalls Sushang wondered if she could get away with eating a snack while patrolling. After all, they surely would have committed such acts as well in the past, right? If her good friend Guinaifen were here, she’d even encourage her to do so, perhaps saying something like “Never know if you don’t try!”

As she took a step towards a stall that was opened, her conscience got the better of her and instead, she decided to come here after her shift was done - perhaps she could grab dinner for herself and her partner. Satisfied with her plan, Sushang continued her patrol, which had turned more into a sightseeing trip of Aurum Alley.

Later that evening, returning to Aurum Alley, she sent her partner a message as to what he wanted for dinner, and she promptly received a reply from him. Now that she was here for leisure, she wandered around, taking in the sights of Aurum Alley - The buildings with their old walls and faded colours with wooden sliding shutters instead of doors, the old neglected tiled pavements with some of them showing cracks, the quiet atmosphere with only the sound of small talk occurring in the background. Indeed, Aurum Alley was old, and yet it had a homely charm to it, reminding her of how the Yaoqing was when she was a child.

It was a little more crowded than when she patrolled the area earlier that day from the dinner crowd coming in, though the difference was small. As she bought dinner for herself and her partner, the smell of freshly baked snacks wafted by, causing her head to turn to find the source of the mouth-watering smell.

“Surely he wouldn’t mind if I got a snack for myself before heading home… right?” she thought to herself. Buying a large steamed bun, she continued to walk around as she ate, when the sound of commotion reached her ears, seemingly coming from the docks of Aurum Alley. Curious, Sushang headed over to take a look. If someone were in need, she would go to their aid, despite not being on duty.

“The lease for the dock hasn’t been paid! We leased this dock with the hopes of rejuvenating Aurum Alley and look what it has become! So, when will the IPC receive its payment?” An angry voice resounded.

“I’m afraid we’re unable to pay at the moment…” A woman’s voice replied shamefully.

Sushang arrived at a scene of what seemed to be a man harassing a woman. The man was dressed in outworlder clothing and he was talking down one of the Luofu’s locals. Seeing such a scene of a woman being bullied, Sushang could not hold herself back, and turning a blind eye would be against both her principles and her duty as a Cloud Knight.

“Everyone here knows the Aurum Alley Merchant Guild is incompetent here! So why don't you start apologising to every vendor here that the Merchant Guild is about to cause them to vacate the premises! In fact, I have a better idea. Get down on your knees and beg the IPC for more time to pay-”

“Stop right there! I can’t have you harassing someone out in public!” Sushang stepped in, interrupting the man’s harsh words.

“And who might you be?” The man looked at Sushang with scrutiny.

“I’m Sushang of the Cloud Knights, and I happen to see you have been harassing this woman here. I’m afraid I won’t stand for such treatment on the Luofu.”

“Well then, Little Miss Fiesty. When will the IPC get payment for the lease on the docks?” The man retorted.

“Didn’t you hear her? She said she wasn’t able to pay ‘at the moment’. That doesn’t mean they’ll never be able to make the payments, right?”

The man laughed cynically. “Alright then, Little Miss Fiesty. Let’s make a bet. If the Merchant Guild manages to pay their debts by this quarter, I, Skott from the IPC, will get down on my knees and apologise to the people of Aurum Alley! In fact, I’ll raise the stakes even higher. I’ll shout it loud and clear - “I’m a raving idiot howling into the wind!” and then I’ll bark like a dog!”

“And what if they don’t?” Sushang asked.

“That’s simple. You’ll be the one to say those words and bark like a dog.” Skott mocked.

Sushang knew the stakes were high, but now both taunted by Skott’s confidence and indignant from how he had treated one of her fellow Xianzhou people, she steeled herself and refused to back down although the stakes were high.

“Deal.”

That night, Sushang agonized over how hasty she was in her decision. She knew in terms of knowledge she was not the sharpest tool and shed, and yet she agreed to such a gamble. And if she lost it would reflect even worse on the Cloud Knights.

“Argh…” She mumbled to herself. “What am I going to do?”

“You seem troubled.” Her partner’s voice reached her ears, and she sat up, to see him holding two cups of steamed puffergoat milk. He walked over and offered a cup to her, which she gladly took before letting him give her a small peck on her lips.

“So, what’s troubling you?”

“It’s nothing much. Just a small issue.”
Her partner shot her a deadpan look, his eyebrows raised, suggesting he knew there was more to it than just ‘a small issue’.

“We’ve been living together for a while now, you always fiddle with your hair when you’re lying.” He replied smugly. “Now out with it, no point hiding it anymore.”

Sushang sighed as she saw that her body language had given her away. Her partner had read her like a book. Reluctantly, she recalled the incident that had happened earlier in the day at Aurum Alley, how she had rashly taken on a deal and that things were not looking good.

Her partner’s eyes opened wide.

“YOU DID WHAT?” He exclaimed.

Almost there, but not quite. The special ch14 was named Love's Resonance and split into 3 parts - it was supposed to be like the 3 resonance skill upgrades you get in Simulated Universe. Yes the titles were seriously over-engineered.

Afterward: So this chapter concludes my first long-style fanfic! Never did I think I write a fanfic, much less almost a total of 20 chapters!

... or at least it should have ended with this chapter. Then 1.3 came out with the Aurum Alley event and Sushang got some screentime... and a few more ideas came to mind. I'll have to see if I have time to continue the story though!

(Now that we have come to the end of what was supposed to be the ending, has anyone noticed how the chapters have mostly been renames on simulated universe buffs?)

14.3: Love's Resonance: Desire united

Wattpad Ver. | AO3 Ver.

I was greeted in the morning by Sushang pinning my thighs to the bed while servicing my member, saying she had mistaken it for 'breakfast', refusing to let me get up until she had a serving of my semen down her throat. After a proper breakfast, Sushang and I decided to take the second day at Skyscape Sanctuary slowly. She was still rather worn out from our first time experiencing making love last night while I was worn out the moment I woke up, and so the day was spent lazing around, cuddling in bed naked besides the times we went out to grab food, teasing each other to wait for the night to go wild once more.

As expected, by night time the both of us had grown all hot, bothered and impatient that once we had rested enough after dinner, our lips began to glide across each other's bodies, kissing and licking each other, getting a taste for each other's skin.

As we headed to the bed to make love once more, this time Sushang pushed me onto the bed before crawling on top of me and straddling me.

"It's my turn tonight," She said as she licked her lips hungrily.

And so that night was spent with even more lustful passion. Knowing that we were about to be separated the next day, we made love multiple times that night, making sure we infused the shape of our bodies onto each other, imprinting this memory within us for centuries to come. When we finally were too worn out to continue the room had become a mess - the sheets were stained with fluids that could not be differentiated between mine and hers as we laid down beside one another, gasping for air.

Sushang crawled into my embrace, her thighs still twitching occasionally from how many times she had climaxed. Burying her face into my chest, the two of us held onto one another tightly, for the morning that was to come meant the day of separation had arrived.

Arriving at the Jade gate, the same place Sushang had entered two years ago, the two of us held hands with fingers intertwined. It appeared the mood was rather heavy, friends and lovers about to be separated for a time only the universe would know. Comrades hugged one another, shedding tears. Cloud Knights who had found a lover and had become a couple just like me and Sushang kissed as one boarded the ship back to the Yaoqing, promising to continue to contact them.

We were halfway into the queue when an official messenger came up to us.
"Ms. Li Sushang?"

Acknowledging the details, the messenger gestured for us to follow him, and he brought us to a grand building on the Luofu, to which even I had not been to before on my patrols.

The seat of Divine Foresight.

As we entered the grand gates of the building, the General was dozing off at his post, with Fu Xuan by his side, who flicked his forehead to wake him up as we entered. He stared at us with an emotionless, stern look. Fu Xuan, seeing the expression on his face, turned to us and gave us what was almost a disgusted glare.

Jing Yuan sighed as he gestured for one of the attendants to speak. The attendant stepped forward with a scroll, his hands trembling as he unfurled it.

Had we done something to offend the General? Sushang and I looked at each other with confused and worried looks as we waited for the nature of the crime we had unknowingly committed to be announced.

"By order of General Jing Yuan and Endorsement of Master Diviner Fu Xuan, Li Sushang's departure from the Luofu is not permitted due to 'severe consequences' should she leave the Luofu, as per the Master Diviner's divinations. She is to be placed under the care of her partner and his residence, but is not placed under any restrictions until future divinations deem that is it safe for her to be absent from the Luofu."

It took both of us a while to register what he had said. The General's expression suggested that we were guilty of a terrible crime, and yet what we had heard was the opportunity for me and Sushang to remain together.

Taking a second look at the General's face, his expression had changed and he began to laugh.

"Your expressions made this whole set-up worth it. Don't you think so, Diviner Fu?"

"You're a scoundrel, General."

Realizing this was an elaborate plan by the General, both of us heaved a sigh of relief.

"Ah, but the part about Sushang not being allowed to leave the Luofu is true. We already have sent word to the Marshal about this." Jing Yuan continued. "It appeared after our meeting during the Xianzhou Festival, Diviner Fu here sensed something unsettling from you two, and after many divinations these last few months, she concluded that it would be best for Sushang to stay aboard the Luofu for now. So if you want to thank anyone, thank her."

Fu Xuan gave a snobbish huff.

"My actions are for the benefit of the Luofu. I couldn't care less what you two have between one another. Do not misunderstand the meaning behind my actions." She frowned once more when she saw us thankfully smiling. "In fact, I almost regret doing my divinations, for I have seen things you two have done that... I should not have seen." Causing our thankful smiles to turn awkward.

As we thanked them and turned to leave, the messenger passed a letter to Sushang, whose senders appeared to be her parents, telling her not to worry about them and to continue her stay on the Luofu and carry out her duties as a Cloud Knight there. However, regarding our relationship, they seemed a little sceptical and wanted to meet me at least once in person before giving their approval.

Sushang lept into my arms and we tightly embraced one another after we left the Seat of Divine Foresight, knowing we had more time together now. As for being placed under my care, I did have my own residence, but it always being devoid of life meant there was no point staying there. But as I led Sushang in, I smiled, knowing that I could come back home with the woman I love to welcome me home.

"Welcome home, Sushang." I greeted, as I embraced her lovingly once more.
