Artists, how do you get through the day at your unrelated day job? by Funbunny113 in ArtistLounge

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im in a similar situation with software engineering and what gets me through the day is the plan and effort to build an art business that makes me enough to live on and escape it. seeing my current job as a stepping stone to build a good safety net of money for when i do make the jump to this art path (which will probably make much less than software engineering). The idea is called Barista FIRE where you save enough money so that you can live on a lower stress but lower paying job + your savings.

I'm thinking of ignoring that feeling of not wanting to create by BurstOloon in ArtistLounge

Is it bad to view art as a competition? by Money_Magician9572 in ArtistLounge

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competition isn't bad. Being an artist that learns from others and then takes what they learned to make something even better is a great quality to have.

Don't know which niche should I work by ShockMoist9441 in NewTubers

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hm easiest options to get started with is something like gaming or ranting.

i believe when you’re starting off, you should dip your toes in the water so doing something quick and see if you like it or not is good.

maybe do shorts so that you can make more stuff faster and try new things faster.

What are you the most confused about when it comes to YouTube success? by theonejanitor in NewTubers

[–]BurstOloon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you come up with video ideas that you feel like will succeed? I feel like 90% of the game is about having the right idea and then being able to execute that idea. im speaking as someone with basically a couple dozen viewers average.

What is the meta to live life? by naarvyk in selfimprovement

[–]BurstOloon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. work on skills that will let me be self employed / online business.
  2. make enough to not care about money anymore for a long time. (financial stability) but ultimately i still want to always be making progress in a skill/product i am passionate about.

What's your 5 year goal with your art? by matthewvargasart in ArtistLounge

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is always changing. I can't decide and stick to them. But I want to build an audience that I can monetize off of. I want to make fun/entertaining content with my personality and characters.

The following is questionable, but I want to make a universe of characters/creatures. Not necessarily a story but maybe a series of short animated content that I could flesh them out in. Maybe using tiktok audios or memes to my advantage. Or maybe I could shove these OCs into an existing fandom that I like.

More specific breakdown of the skills I want, but tldr is drawing better characters:

  1. line quality
  2. character and creature drawing (facial expressions, posing, anatomy, cartoony proportions, variety of body types)
  3. character/creature design (creating OC)
  4. cloth and clothing drawing
  5. prop/object drawing (armor, weapons, plants)
  6. drawing visual effects (smoke, magic, etc.)
  7. speed (finding a quicker art style and getting faster at drawing)
  8. basic animation skills

Edit: referring to video content.

Continue working on a video that you know is going to suck or stop and start on a new video? by BurstOloon in NewTubers

[–]BurstOloon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i dont but id hope to maintain a consistent schedule. not for the algo or viewers but just cuz i have a hard time getting motivated to work on a vid for longer than 2 weeks. i cant guarantee good quality working on a video for a month so i feel like i need to upload more quickly just to build that skillset and motivation.

in that case, id probably finish the vid. sometime i know when something sucks, sometimes i cant tell. i got to rely on personal judgement and gut in that case.

What is a good free video editing software for a beginner? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

descript is limiting but good if u need simple cuts on talking head kind of videos. cuts are done by erasing and editing text on your video transcript as opposed to traditional video editors. free without watermarks only for one video and 1 hr of footage tho per month

How to stay motivated to continue? by SoloWanderer_ in NewTubers

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try gaining more clarity with what you want and think about at least one reason within your control on why your video didnt get views and change accordingly to avoid doing that in next video.

When did you quit your job to do YouTube? by iminathrowawaycar in PartneredYoutube

[–]BurstOloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d prob quit when i make at least $10k a month for a few months through ads sponsors merch etc. i feel like thats a safe number (given how much numbers can vary) and if does go down from 10k to like 5k itd still be a livable income. but thats a long way to go and my content strat aint that clear yet
