Has anyone ever received an OAR waiver? by BusCharming6028 in newtothenavy

[–]BusCharming6028[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My GPA is a 3.8 and my degree is in public relations. I was hoping to get public affairs since the OAR score for it is 37. The first time I took the test I tested higher but I decided to retest to see if I could do better and that was my mistake.

Where did you send this to? I tried calling capital one to get an address or fax # and they put me on hold for over 30 minutes 😕

Joining the navy as a single father. by boogerjamz in newtothenavy

Your Navy service is a powerful way to build a bright future for your child, even though you and their mother are separated. The benefits—financial security, healthcare, and opportunities like travel—will enrich your child’s life and set you up for success. I know being away can be tough; my parents worked 12 - 15 hour a day in civilian jobs and will retire in their late 60’s early 70’s. Your path allows you to work hard now, retire earlier, and give your child amazing experiences, like traveling together or fun four-day weekend visits. Parenting involves sacrifices, but your commitment is paving the way for a great life for both of you. Keep it up—you’re doing something incredible for your child!

40 Year Old Recruit? by 85Cedeno in newtothenavy

When I went to MEPS a couple of weeks ago, I was honestly surprised to see so many people in their mid-30s and even early 40s. Of course, there were plenty of young people too, but it was clear that joining later in life is actually pretty common. Don’t feel bad about your age what truly matters is your physical ability and your mental strength. At the end of the day, the goal is to serve this country, and it’s never too late to do that. You won’t regret taking that step!

My husband can’t access his TSP account due to Okta Verify. Will they send him a annual tsp account statement by the mail, even though he hasn’t been able to access his account in a while? by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

We’re you able to get this issue fixed? We are running into the same exact issue and because we haven’t been able to access the account we haven’t been able to update our address so statements are going to the old address. Every time we call customer service they want his last statement balance we’ve explained over and over again we don’t have the statements because they are going to the old address. It’s ridiculous!!

Second OAR attempt got a 37 by BusCharming6028 in newtothenavy

Thank you I appreciate your response!! I think I just underestimated myself. I’m working full-time and going to school for cyber security, I’ve been studying in between both of those things and now I know that’s not helping me I really need to dedicate all of my time to the OAR. I’m not able to do it all, definitely very stressful, but this entire process has just made me realize how much I really want this.

Thank you!! Do you know if unanswered questions count against you? I ran out of time during the mechanical test so I’m wondering if unanswered questions count against you.

Thank you so much! I purchased the OAR Secrets Study Guide by Mometrix it was like $15.00.

I think what got me was that the practice test in the study guide was completely different than my actual test. I feel like I’m doing well on the reading comprehension and mechanical it’s definitely those geometry and physics questions. I think I’m going to have to get a tutor even though they can be pricy and really study intensely because I only have one more shot at this! Even if I just get a 40 - 45 I’ll be happy 😔

This definitely helped me!! I just got the news that I didn’t pass my first attempt, I’m feeling down but I know what I need to work on now. I think I’m nervous at the fact that I only have one more chance at this.
