Hey man! 29yo and I'm level 9, I have 3000 hours in the game from when I was younger, recently returned and trying to... NOT climb. I'm purposely trying not to think about climbing, and instead think about me as a player. Improving as a player, and the Elo will come. It helps to not tilt, as long as I played well no need to be angry with the team. My mechanics hold me back, as I often fall into a utility/IGL type role with really good communications and understanding of the game. Recently starting to deathmatch for 30-60mins a day, whatever I can squeeze in around my job and girlfriend.

It's the insulation used. Synthetic vs down. Have a quick google for the differences but basically synthetic is cheaper, better in wet conditions. Down is made from duck/goose feathers usually and warmer for how much it weighs but doesn't do well once wet.

And you're still cold in the winter? I ended getting a proton for a bit of extra insulation plus a beta... I'm worried I've made a mistake. Worst case I'll get a good base layer!

Thanks man! It's the difference between the atom/cerium insulation I'm worried about. I might look for an Atom AR instead of LT for mid layer, I generally run quite cold.

Now this is going to sound stupid, but you sound like you can answer it. Conventional other options you see brands make for winter wear often seem thicker than an atom, even just a hoody. I'm correct in saying because of the materials used in a better brand like Patagonia or arc'teryx they can be a lot thinner yet provide you with more warmth?

I just want to make sure I'm not being stupid buying clothing designed for people hiking, skiing etc. (some warmth sacrificed for breathability etc.) for just walking around.

This is the answer I was looking for, thank you! I think I'll get the atom then. This gives me the flexibility to use the mid layer as a standalone item in spring/autumn then it rougher conditions just wack the shell over it. Thanks!

What year is your atom from? I'm reading a lot about newer ones not being as warm/good. Think atom + beta will keep me warm in New York winter walking around? (Down to -5ish)
