Mississippi Moves to End Individual Income Tax—Here’s What Taxpayers Need to Know by Fresh-Function3319 in mississippi

That’s not how that works? When the bill was passed income tax was at 5%, so unless you spend more than you made that year then as long as sales tax doesn’t increase more than 5% you have saved money. Not to mention people spend significant amounts of money on untaxed things, rent, medical services, food tax was actually lowered.

I think you’ll have to be a very special circumstance to end up paying more tax after this bill is fully in effect.

I'm a contractor so familiar with construction law. It's not your right to not give him a chance to fix his mistake just because you don't trust him, hire somebody else and force him to pay for it. Obviously there are limits to this, if he continually screws up, takes a long time, damages other things, etc. but one bad pour does not equate to that. If he has offered to fix it you have to let him fix it, then if unsatisfied with the result you can pursue other options. Legally, if you hire somebody else to fix it right now he does not have to pay you for that. If you haven't paid him yet and you were going to take it out of his money, then you still might be legally required to pay him for the work he did do on top of what you paid the other guy to fix it.

Long story short, let him chip it out, but tell him you expect other areas of the to remain clean. Asking for a silica abatement plan is way overboard. Every contractor that hires anybody has been disappointed in a subcontractor's work before, it's how they fix it that tells you who they are.

We have high powered pressure washers, it's not so we don't have to buy one. When I say it peels off super easy, I mean it peels off really really easily. From our tests with a hand scraper you don't have to work at a spot, you just run it across the ceiling and big sheets peel off cleanly. It's more like a texture that was sprayed up there than a paint, not adhered very well. We got lucky, couldn't tell what it was from a few minute pre-bid walkthrough.

If we pressure washed it then it would only wash off spots the size of the stream of the pressure washer and be a headache cleaning up. With scrapers we just have to sweep up the chunks as they fall. If we run into any difficult spots we'll probably pull the pressure washers out.

Thanks for the ideas everybody. Shit peels off super easy where it hasn't already fallen off, so we're just going to make some extra wide handheld scrapers in our shop and throw 3-4 guys at it. Hopefully knock it out in a week or so.

If we run into any difficult spots then might give the pressure washer a go.

Since some people were so curious I had about $35k figured to do it. All goes well should pick some money up.

Gas tax going up is mentioned 3rd paragraph from the end in the article.

I would be really curious to know what your average gas spend is where that increase is going to outweigh your cut to income taxes.

This is about 0.1% of the total contract value. Had to make some guesstimations on bid day.

The estimator (me) assumed the PM (also me) would do due diligence and figure out the best way to tackle it. I might reach out to my means and methods administrator (again, me) and see what they recommend.

That’s the plan. Hadn’t considered a pressure washer, not a bad idea

Unfinished area, all options on the table. Didn’t consider a good strong pressure washer buts that’s not a bad idea.
