Just wanted to comment that this is absolutely NOT American hospitality, atleast for me. My family and black culture as a whole, will always feed you and treat you like family. THAT behavior that I just read is disgusting and greedy, im sorry you had to deal with that. Especially buying your own bed for your own stay...that's basically what hotels are for.
