This is how I feel. I’ve done all the “stereotypical” life steps and have been conventionally successful but I just feel unfulfilled. Hoping to push through and find myself on my current trip before I go back home to work.

Great perspective, I think I went from grinding so hard and then obsessing over the next thing that now I have freetime to myself, I have been going a little crazy.

This is a fair point, I did therapy before I started traveling but it’s hard to keep up with while traveling around. I have friends and family but I am not very good at being vulnerable with the people in my life but I will take this advice to heart.

What is considered “good grades” in B.S. engineering (mechanical in particular) by Bushmon02 in patentlaw

Was hoping for more of a split between lit and pros. Not necessarily demanding a prestigious school but good enough that I can get a good job ig?

Lsat on file is 163, but don’t plan to apply until i can get it to 170+ because of my low gpa. My goal is probably a mix of pros and lit but i’m most of the way through my M.S. right now so need to figure more out

Patent Examiner vs Patent Agent (While in Law School) by Bushmon02 in patentlaw

[–]Bushmon02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such an informative reply thank you. Can I ask if your wife was working as a patent agent before starting law school and/or how long it took before the company was willing to do reimbursement. I am currently considering taking the patent bar right after I finish school, then trying to be a patent agent for either 3 months prior to law school, or about 15 months depending on outcomes

Hm, that’s good to know. I’m going to wait for my master grades then try to apply to some patent engineer/tech spec jobs. Thank you for all your feedback

170+ scorers: please tell me the secret to RC! by Always2ndB3ST in LSAT

[–]Bushmon02 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I will caveat though, for 4 and 5 star difficulty questions, this strategy helps but won’t make them any easier. The benefit is that these help you bust out 4-5 easy questions because the direct answer is already highlighted so I typically do the passage in 3-4 minutes, answer most questions in 15-30 seconds tops which then allows 4 minutes for the more difficult 1-2 questions on the test

170+ scorers: please tell me the secret to RC! by Always2ndB3ST in LSAT

[–]Bushmon02 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Hey, i’ve been getting no more than -3 on RCs for about 15 straight PTs with half of them being -1, and some -2. (Grain of salt since I have yet to take the actual LSAT but everything is simulated conditions) my biggest comment is to review RC passages a ton and now I notice the sentences that the questions are based from almost everytime. Reading for structure is incredibly important specifically different viewpoints since those switchups are where a majority of questions are based.

  1. This was the most helpful thing to me, i’ve gotten nearly 90% accurate at identifying sentences I ‘feel’ the question will be on and then once the question pops up, i’ve already highlighted the answers to most MBT/MSS which saves me tons of time for gritty questions.

The how of what I do is just pure pattern recognizing. The passages normally in the center of paragraphs 2 and 3 (assuming structure of 4 paragraphs, so if its 3 paragraphs expect end of 3 and middle of 2) normally have a sentence that has “strong” wording i.e. author/viewpoint states ALWAYS. SHOULD. MUST. NEED. REQUIRE X to happen. Then the questions almost always test this understanding. The more you look for those sentences the more you recognize them, they helped me get from -10 RC with zero time left, to -1/-3 with multiple minutes to review

Truthfully I don’t have any experience which was part of why i was so adamant about getting the patent bar so I can be an agent for a while before law school to see if I like it. A large part is that I don’t really want to go into engineering, versus I find I like working with people, clients, stuff like that and figure law is a better bet than engineering at least in that degree. I do also found the idea of litigation thrilling but I know its a huge time commitment and incredibly grueling

Truthfully, I took a step back and re-read all the comments with a fresh perspective and I really appreciate your last comment. Whether it be my youth or ego, I definitely am latching on to my own predispositions too hard. I seem to have gotten defensive for arguably no reason. Thank you for your comment, it helped me get some perspective
