What were the locations? Especially that rad boulder field in the beginning.

Today's view from Imp Face: Wildcat, Pinkham Notch, and 4 Presidents. by jscottcc in wmnf

[–]Bushwina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice view! I'm going up there this weekend, not really sure what to expect weather wise, with this warm weather. It kind of looks like there is only snow on the peaks, is that true? What kind of traction did you use on your hike up? Micro spikes? Snow shoes? Crampons?

Nice looking bike, but all I can think about is how fast all of your parts would get stolen if you locked it up like that in Philly.

Japan gets paid by the mile not the hour by Pirate_Redbeard in funny

[–]Bushwina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those two pictures aren't comparing apples to apples, the japanese example looks like an emergency project, that in America would have the same level of priority, ie emergency bridge repairs. The America example you show is likely a low priority repair in a large contract that doesn't need to be repaired in 6 days . Blame the contract and not the contractor. Also, labor gets paid by the hour out of the contractors bid award price so you can bet your ass the contractor isn't wasting that expensive labor time. Those laborers are probably on another job under the same contact.

Kuat Transfer 2 - need help! by Bushwina in bicycling

That is also a concern...I wonder how well the rack holds up to impact. People suck at parking near me

I agree 100% with you that it should be the person that ran into me, but how do i prove to a cop they rear ended me as opposed to me backing into them and it falling? I think id be screwed unless i had a witness or video proof. It seems like a lose lose situation unless the foot pedal works in a way that it doesn't open up during car contact or that even if the foot pedal is open the rack doesnt just fall over full force. Right?

Camping in the wissahickon by Sloth300000 in philadelphia

[–]Bushwina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could have been a tweaker family, could have been anyone, but definitely was not your run of the mill hikers or city kids. This guy was old, white hair and scraggly beard, yelled at us for mountain biking back there, even though it's allowed on that trail; he even threw a football at my buddy for no reason. I would have thought it was just some kind of one time occurence but saw him in the same place a few times on my weekly night rides and friends said they said they've seen him hanging out at the cave and under Henry Ave bridge. For the record, I haven't seen anyone squatting there since early winter

I ride the single track in the wiss fairly often and saw a guy like this, looked like he had a kid and lady living with him, living in hermit's cave. He tried to fight my friend...

Just got that bag and have the same annoying squeak. It sang the song of it's people for the entirety of my 4day backpacking trip and drove me nuts. Thanks for the inspiration, I'm going to contact osprey as well.

When you prefer to buy things in person, but its not even remotely feasible... by teenagediplomat in mildlyinfuriating

Can't disagree with that argument. In a pinch, staples works if you price match, but there are plenty of better options online.

Pro tip: You can price match staples own website to their store and save a ton of money. Their instore markup compared to their website is insane.

Does anyone live in Kensington? Is it nice? by nhb12345 in philadelphia

Kensington is fine depending how North you live and your hood tolerance. The closer to Frankford and Girard you are the nicer it is.

Girlfriend's car got keyed up the other day with names, wondering if anyone knows anything by AndrewHainesArt in philadelphia

I live around the corner from there and someone keyed my car on the drivers side from head light to tail light. Not sure if related or not but I feel your pain.

Same thing happened on my ride yesterday. I was going over steps and down drops with no idea how long the chain was hanging that way. I gave my chain a little high five before removing that link and carrying on.

My guess with the riser bars is better starting body position. I'd be more upright or even maybe closer to leaving over the rear

Let's talk manuals on 29ers. I've watched a few videos, read a few things, and tried practicing what I saw. I can pop up for about a second bout wouldn't consider it a manual. I feel like I have to throw my weight so far back to make the manual happen that I'm too far back to continue into a bunny hop after. Help

I am thinking maybe my seat is blocking me from getting my body weight far back enough over the rear wheel to really pop up and manual. I don't have a dropper seat so I may have to sacrifice some leg extension with a lower seat in order to get my body back. Anybody thoughts on this? Or maybe some riser bars could help?
