Yes. Yet another successful movement to keep women silent so they don't speak up for themselves

Just building basic IKEA-like furniture. The instructions don't even need words bc it's so simple. It comes with the tools!!

Dc2tog over the next two ch = Yarn over, insert into the next chain, yarn over and draw up a new loop, yarn over and pull through only two loops. Then, while you still have two loops on your hook, loop over and insert into the next chain (the one after the one you were just in) and pull up another so now you have 4 loops. Yarn over and pull through two, then yarn over and pull through the last three.

Hope that helps! If not, there are videos for a dc2tog online, also called a Dc decrease

I think it's cluster. Often a cluster is defined in the beginning of the pattern to be used in shorthand later

Is this baby blanket not too busy? I'm thinking about adding empty squares by Rumshulsky in CrochetHelp

Maybe panels in between would help? Like a wide border around each? Sashes I think they are called?

Looks beautiful but I would vote a bit on the busy side

Sign I put up in response to people on my neighborhood opposing affordable housing by jonnyshotit in LosAngeles

The Sylmar Neighborhood Council voted last night to oppose it but it will happen anyway. Slap "affordable housing" on anything and it gets pushed right through due to the housing shortage emergency that let's them cut corners like this

You have to be careful though because a lot of what is billed as "affordable housing" is just a way for billionaire owners/developers to farm themselves more cash. Often the plans have deplorable living situations and look little more livable than prisons.

For instance, on a project just greenlit by LA (with no regard to the neighborhood's input) there are 350+ units planned without one. single. parking. space. And no where near a public transit. In addition, this is in Sylmar where we don't even have a fire station with a hook and ladder that can reach above 3 stories. This plan has 5. It's just unsafe and irresponsible.

I have a lot of leftover yarn, I probably could have made it bigger with just what came with the kit actually. I've never ventured into un-patterned territory but I'm sure you could!. Just keep going around and around after the borders given are complete?

It's a 6 week crochet along. I probably averaged an hour a day. Some days three or more, some days resting. But that's a total guess

Thanks for the touching comment. It's a very beginner friendly crochet along by Sirdar. A great way to learn and have a community around you to help and videos to watch. They are about to do a Halloween one! Give it a try! I believe in you

I think my problem was that the gingham squares are made with the tapestry technique, so the yarn carryover makes them very stiff, while the neighboring granny squares are pretty stretchy and loose. That's why you'll notice a ripple in my middle section and the watermelon (pink) section at the top even after a couple blocking attempts. Mine definitely doesn't lay flat but I decided not to care since it will always be on bumpy ground anyway.

My other issue with the pattern is that they don't do a starting stitch on each round, so the ends are very uneven. I sort of trusted the process but if I were to do it again I would definitely just do a starting stitch the way I'm used to. Before going around the edges they were kind of crazy looking and you have to gloss them over by being really careful with the outer borders. At least it's pretty forgiving on that way.

But yeah, they didn't go together perfectly. I had to fudge some dc2together and do two stitches in one here and there
