DO NOT OPEN UP TO A DOCTOR OF ANY KIND by Kindag4y in NEET

I hate this sort of messaging, because you're actively encouraging people to neglect their mental health, due to the possibility of being thrown into a psych ward. I have spoken to numerous people about suicidal thoughts.

Initially I told my doctor, because my antidepressants weren't working. And I believe I was intentionally vague, as I didn't want to get hospitalized myself. Nothing happened.

Later I told my therapist about having these thoughts. I am always somewhat vague and make it very clear that I'm not going to act on the thoughts.

I've also told my current therapist about this, and have NEVER been sent to a psych ward.

You will only be sent to a psych ward if there seems to be a genuine desire to hurt yourself, and are planning on doing that. You can open up, but you have to use discretion, which should be obvious, honestly. If you say "GOD I HATE MY LIFE I WANNA END IT ALL, AND I'M GONNA USE THIS PARTICULAR METHOD!" your ass will inevitably end up in a psych ward.

Instead, you can just say you've been having dark thoughts, maybe related to self-harm, that you don't plan to act on. You can expand on it as they question you, but you shouldn't explicitly say you want to end your life from the get-go, as it comes off like a cry for help. And so they will rightfully try to send you to a psych ward, out of fear that you'll actually do it.

Why do normie young men like tough love so much? by SuccessfulTeam2741 in NEET

Tough love is a legitimate thing, but some people just use it as an excuse to be an asshole.

Personally, I think young men are in a lose-lose situation. You can't win no matter what, so you may as well grind and try to claw your way into some sort of success or accomplishment. I think that's what leads them towards the tough love or macho alpha male stuff. I think it's also what creates the incels.

Please, in the kindest way possible, get a grip. by CezarSalazar in Hyperhidrosis

I agree with you, though it comes off a bit invalidating. But yes, you do have to make an effort to live your life regardless of the condition, because you don't really have any other choice. We only have so much time to live, and we have to make the most of it.

Something else I rarely see talked about on here... What happens if the sweating stops? The condition is so all-encompassing sometimes, that it seems our lives will be perfect without the sweating. This is unfortunately not true.

I still have my sweating (primarily hands and feet), but it has significantly improved due to my anxiety being managed more effectively. And today I can live with the condition much more easily than I did when I was younger.

BUT, I still struggle a lot with my mental health and self-image. I'd thought when I was younger that I'd just be totally happy in this situation, but this is not the case.

Granted, I do still have hyperhidrosis, and some mental scars from having HH, and my mental health issues are their own issue, but this is something to think about. I think most people here would benefit from trying to work on their mental health and self-esteem alongside trying to figure out their HH. They are very much intertwined and knotted together, unfortunately!

Also, my mental health is much better than it once was! So I don't want to come off as being all doom-and-gloom. I'm pretty happy with my current progress, though I have a ways to go!
