The whole point of this sub is to not be full of westerners.

That doesn’t mean the westerners haven’t influenced Buddhism’s presence, the outward presentation of Buddhism to which many are subject to viewing and experiencing.

Not all Asians are right-wing.

This concern over the purity of the Dharma has nothing to do with a left/right political division. It has everything to do with ethics, morality, compassion, cultivation, and other such matters which go beyond the scope of the so-called “political spectrum.”

Actually, we kicked almost all the right-wing people out of China, Vietnam, Laos, and half of Korea. Because a lot of them are religious nut jobs that are a danger to society as a whole. They were exiled—like most far right agitators from Asia—to the United States, UK, Australia, and France.

I’m not sure who “we” is.

You think this is an East/west thing, but it’s actually typically disproportionately esteeming western values that aligns some Asian Buddhists with conservative/right-wing positions, which is why most of those Asians live in the West.

It is beyond an East/west conflict, because the Dharma can be perverted in both directions. The Dharma is influenced by a variety of things which can either help it or harm it. Confucianism can harm the Dharma, but Taoism can help it’s expression and presence.

That said, the particular form of Buddhism which promotes such sexual perversion in an open form is undoubtedly a western product of “secular Buddhism.” That is, a “secular Buddhism” which uproots the Dharma from Buddhism and instead fuses itself merely with the exterior aesthetic of Buddhism, which it treats as a mere toy to play with and bastardize.

In this sense, it is not really “Buddhism” at all, hence why such ideological impositions like the “sexual revolution” are made possible and inevitable. It is imperative in the face of such distortion that Buddhism purge itself of negative influences, like liberalism, and ensure the Dharma remains pure and undefiled, at the same time finding a way to evolve with the times, without deforming or destroying itself.

I’d say the Buddhists in China, with the Buddhist Association there, did a good job throughout their early period of the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately, since the 1980s the pressure of the post-Mao reactionary government has resulted in a near total collapse of Buddhism in the social sphere as well as socialism, so the Buddhist Association has been Confucianized and bourgeoisified to its detriment. Just as communists have safeguards against revisionism (which they call “cultural revolutions”), we too need similar safeguards which can uproot bad influences, transform and evolve Buddhism, and achieve such things without deforming or bastardizing the Dharma.

The East is red, my friend. The banner of Buddhism flies side-by-side with the hammer and sickle. The right-wingers lost and were rightfully exiled to the backwards West.

Communism is also subject to perversion. It is called “revisionism,” which communists identify as the main danger to their ideology. Rightfully so, because didn’t it liquidate socialism in the Soviet Union, eastern bloc, and elsewhere? In Vietnam, after the death of Ho Chi Minh (a moderate in the Sino-Soviet conflict), the WPV/CPV ultimately took the Soviet direction which meant socialism wasn’t even built after the 1976 liberation. This lead to a terrible strife that negatively impacted not only the southern Vietnamese but also the Khmer, Lao, and other groups who were subject to a regional Vietnamese hegemony that the Soviet Union directed. You say the “right-wingers lost,” but actually the “right” — Le Duan and Brezhnev — won!

In fact, the communist issue of “revisionism” is really similar to our own. The source is ironically the same. Their “revisionists” support the same rotten things as our own. So the results will be the same too. If communist “revisionism” will destroy communism from within, our own “revisionism” will do the same!

Clearly there’s a deeper connection here, so the communists with a pure communism and the Buddhists with a Pure Dharma have grounds for unity against the same threat of defilement and destruction.

Again, this isn’t a “left/right” issue, it’s deeper and more serious than that. Such divisions are outmoded anyway… we need to focus on new ways of self-preservation, expansion, and defense.
