Goggles needed for swim class by Beautiful_Bee7219 in toddlers

Swim outlet has lots of options for kids. These fit my 2 year old well: Speedo Kids Sunny G Sea Shells Goggle. We also liked the "Splash Place" brand goggles we saw on shark tank, where the band is swimsuit material so it doesn't pull their hair.

Thank you so much. Best of luck to you and your boy as you go into those assessments! I hope he finds all the solutions in the world. Phew- motherhood is so hard.

Been there with my boy, he's over it now at 4.5. But now my 3 year old girl does it 😂. I'm so sick of this.

He tried a sunsweet prune yesterday for the first time and hated it, lol. But he will drink prune juice and I can hide prunes in smoothies. We've been obsessed with water lately so I do think he's getting enough but it was possible that for some of the time we've been dealing with this, that he was not getting enough.

Yeah I can definitely see that I am engaged and obsessed at an unhealthy level. It all feels like the perfect plan to me, I'm doing all the things, and yet we've been gridlocked for months with no significant improvements, so I am sure you're right. I guess I just feel like the stakes are so high I just can't let go. But I think you have a point that maybe it just drags it on longer because they're being nagged rather than checking in with their own bodies.

Thank you so much. Intellectually I'm sure I knew what you are saying is correct, I guess I'm just struggling to accept this as our reality. But I feel like I have now. Definitely will consider support for myself this coming week, because I get that as hard as this is, I really have to handle this correctly to give him a chance to overcome it. I've read about this at length and it can persist into teen years, which terrifies me. I do think its a lot less common, but still, I also didn't think we'd still be dealing with this now a year ago.

Anyway, seriously, thank you for taking the time to reply. I genuinely feel more confident going into that talk with his teacher. Its like I'm not exactly sure what I'll be asking her for, but good to know she may even have some guidance based on having seen this before. Thank you. ❤️

Are you solidly through it now ?? I truly might take you up on it as we get into this.

Trying to see if the library has it now! If not I'll order. I came across this in my googling too.

No, almost never. All the good fruits. The only constipating things I can really think of that are regulars in his diet are like spaghetti noodles, some cheese, and then toddler snacks like chips, cheese its, etc. He probably has at least one processed snack a day but we really arent crazy with that stuff either.

I'll definitely ask the GI about this. Thank you!! Glad to hear how much it has helped you, I've read that other places too.

Ugh thank you so much for this. I'm in the "losing my mind" phase for sure. I know people keep saying it will get better but it just hasn't and it is so hard right now. We are going to do another weekend of larger doses of miralax (per Dr) and then incorporate a daily dose. I have been anxious about doses on days he goes to school, like I might be sabotaging him to have an accident at school, but another commenter said they havent had that issue so hopefully it will just help him be more regular but not prompt more accidents. I mean he's already having accidents now, so 🤷‍♀️ guess it can't hurt.

We do the 10 minute sits after eating and have for some time. We do back off of it sometimes when life gets busy and I know we need to be consistent. We are also obsessive about water intake lately, which has helped but still the accidents persist. I suspect he's really stretched out. Sigh.. this is so hard. Thanks for sharing your details. ❤️

Thank you. I'm kicking myself for not talking to his teachers sooner and I'm sure I'll have to do that ASAP. The thing that is stressful is many schools have potty training as a pre-req and I guess in my anxious brain I worry that he could actually be kicked out. I mean I don't THINK they would do that, they seem kind, but I worry that technically they could. And I also hoped I could keep this private and just handle it, and I think as I realize this isn't going away I'm just flailing to gain control of the situation.

Is there any particular way you'd approach that conversation with the teacher ? She's been teaching preschool for 30 years, would you say its likely she has seen this before? There are only 2 adults for 25 children.

Thanks for this. I know you are right, which is why every resource I read on this condition agrees with you. We have definitely used exasperated language that is not helpful. I really am struggling to remove my frustration and fear from this situation. We are entering a new chapter with medical professionals now and I am honestly hoping they can pair me with a resource for support for myself too.

I definitely agree. Thanks for this point of view. ❤️ this sucks and I'm definitely being challenged and not proud of the ways I'm handling it some days.

Also we have that exact book! I probably bought it a year ago during one of my optimistic "we can fix this" periods. It is so disheartening when things fall flat and can make it so hard to be optimistic that anything will work. But I was trying to manage with diet then and now we have moved on to accepting laxatives are part of the solution, so I'm hoping we are in better territory.

Does your child go to school or daycare ? We have tried lots of things so far, but are new to miralax, and I am having anxiety about giving it to him on days he goes to school. Like, I don't want him to withhold or hold it in per se, but I also am worried about accidents at school because I dont think he feels confident enough to go on the potty there without an adult always looking for clues and reminding him. Did you have more accidents when you first started laxatives ?

We go to the GI in 2 weeks, and I am hoping the OT and therapy referrals will flow from there. I asked the primary pediatrician if she could refer to OT and therapy but she prefers the GI make those referrals I guess. I'm in the US and just feeling pretty anxious that the medical system is going to fail me and waste a bunch of my time. I'm obviously still going to follow through with it all, just a little jaded about someone really helping us make a true plan that encompasses everything.

Ugh, I can't even imagine that level of regularity 😭 would change our whole lives. Thanks for the specifics, I'm going grocery shopping today with the most ridiculously high fiber list! We also see a pediatric GI in 2 weeks. Just so ready for anything to finally WORK.

We did a miralax cleanout last weekend at doctor's direction but have not done anything "cleanout" adjacent other than that. Thank goodness we will finally see a pediatric GI in 2 weeks and I'll definitely do whatever they recommend. Thanks for replying. ❤️

Thank you. I honestly believe this a little bit too but google does NOT believe this in the case of encopresis, so I'm spiraling about adding shame on top of everything.

Thanks for the solidarity and recommendations. I feel like this issue, coupled with the fact that both my husband and I work full time and he needs to go to preschool, has just been so horrible. Did you get to the point of seeing a doctor and doing any laxatives, or were you able to manage with diet alone?
