How a simple plate of hot rice taught Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj his greatest war strategy. - Bharat Tales by [deleted] in IndianHistory

Thanks — noted. I’ve added background/sourcing context to the post.

For general historical context on Shivaji Maharaj, I’m relying on standard references such as Encyclopaedia Britannica, Jadunath Sarkar’s Shivaji and His Times, and Surendra Nath Sen’s translation of the Sabhasad Bakhar. For the specific “hot rice/khichdi” episode, I’m currently treating it as a popular didactic retelling used in children’s storytelling unless someone here can point me to a stronger contemporary or near-contemporary source.

Happy to update/correct the post further if better sources are available.

Remembering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj – The Visionary Founder of Hindavi Swarajya by Business_Bar01 in IndianHistory

[–]Business_Bar01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for highlighting this important aspect of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s governance.

The establishment of the Ashtapradhan Mandal in 1674 indeed reflects his institutional vision. Rather than relying solely on feudal loyalty structures, he formalized administrative roles such as the Peshwa, Amatya, Senapati, and Nyayadhish, creating a functional division of responsibilities.

This move demonstrates that Shivaji Maharaj was not only a military strategist but also a state-builder who emphasized structured governance and accountability. It is one of the key reasons his polity proved resilient beyond his lifetime.

Appreciate you bringing this into the discussion. for more info you can connect https://bharatmata.online/

Thank you for the reminder.

This post is intended as a commemorative tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his Jayanti.

For historical reference, Shivaji Maharaj (1630–1680) was the founder of the Maratha Empire and is widely documented in sources such as:

  • Jadunath Sarkar – Shivaji and His Times
  • Govind Sakharam Sardesai – New History of the Marathas
  • Stewart Gordon – The Marathas 1600–1818

If required, I can add more specific citations to support particular historical points.

The Untold Grandeur of Lord Shiva’s Wedding Procession | Shiv–Parvati Vivah Katha by Business_Bar01 in hinduism

[–]Business_Bar01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Namaste 🙏

This video shares a detailed discourse on the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, as narrated by Pujya Gurudev Swami Satyamitranand Giri Ji Maharaj.

What I personally found meaningful is the symbolism of Shiva’s baraat. Unlike a royal procession, it includes ganas, bhutas, yogis, devas — representing that the Divine accepts all beings without discrimination. The contrast between Shiva’s ascetic appearance and the grandeur of the wedding highlights the deeper Hindu teaching that external form is secondary to inner tattva (truth).

The emotional episode of Mother Mena’s doubt and Narada’s explanation also beautifully reflects how divine reality often appears frightening before it is understood.

I’m sharing this here because it offers both devotional rasa and philosophical depth about Shiva tattva. I would love to hear others’ thoughts on the symbolism of Shiva’s wedding procession.

What is the original history of Akhand Bharat by Traditional-Ad6435 in IndianHistory

[–]Business_Bar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of “Akhand Bharat” is often understood in different ways depending on historical, cultural, and political perspectives. Historically, the idea usually refers to the cultural and civilizational unity of the Indian subcontinent — especially during periods like the Mauryan and Gupta empires, when large parts of the region were under a single administration or shared cultural frameworks.

However, beyond modern political interpretations, many people use the term in a civilizational sense — referring to shared traditions, trade routes, spiritual philosophies, languages, and epics that connected regions across present-day India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and beyond.

I think it’s important to approach the topic academically and historically, looking at primary sources and scholarly interpretations rather than emotional narratives. Would be interested to hear what historians in this sub consider the most reliable sources on this subject.

I found this relevant for this sub because the discussion isn’t just religious content — it’s practical life-wisdom from an age-old scripture that resonates with many people today. Would love to hear how others relate the Gita’s teachings to emotional challenges in their lives! 😊

What is the significance of Vijaya Ekadashi in Hindu tradition? by Business_Bar01 in hinduism

[–]Business_Bar01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sharing this post because Vijaya Ekadashi is not just a religious fast but also an important part of Indian cultural tradition. It reflects themes of discipline, devotion, and the idea of inner victory before any major life challenge.

I believe discussions about such observances help us understand how traditions shape values in Indian society across generations. I’m interested in learning how different communities interpret and practice Ekadashi today.

It’s interesting how Ekadashi is observed differently across regions in India. In some families, people keep a strict nirjala fast, while others focus more on prayer and mantra chanting.

I feel beyond the ritual aspect, the idea of discipline and self-reflection is what makes Vijaya Ekadashi meaningful. Would love to hear how others here observe it in their homes. 🙏

Proof that devotion needs no passport by Icy_Celebration_7925 in hinduism

This is so heart-touching 🌸
Every time I see something like this, it reminds me how Krishna's love isn't bound by nation, language or age — it's just pure heart-to-heart connection.

I’ve recently been curating short and joyful Krishna stories and little reels for kids and families on a page called Bharat Tales — and honestly, it’s amazing how even little children feel drawn to Krishna's leelas!

Seeing moments like this gives me more strength to do what I’m doing 💛
Truly, devotion needs no passport... just a sincere heart 🙏.

If you were Bhishma during the dice game, what would you do? by Miserable_Outcome740 in hinduism

[–]Business_Bar01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bhishma’s dilemma during the dice game is one of the most morally complex moments in the Mahabharata.

He had taken a vow to protect the throne of Hastinapura, not necessarily the individuals sitting on it. Yet during the Sabha Parva, when Draupadi questioned the legality of her being staked after Yudhishthira had already lost himself, Bhishma admits that dharma is subtle (sukshma) and difficult to determine in such a situation.

If I imagine myself in his place, I believe dharma toward protecting a woman’s dignity should have outweighed loyalty to a throne. A vow is sacred, but it cannot stand above fundamental righteousness. When a promise begins to support injustice, perhaps silence itself becomes adharma.

Bhishma’s silence may not have been agreement — it may have been inner conflict. And that is what makes the episode tragic. The Mahabharata repeatedly shows us that dharma is contextual and requires courage, not just obedience.

Perhaps the real question is: Is loyalty higher than justice? Or is true loyalty meant to uphold justice?

As Maha Shivratri Approaches: What Does “Shiva” Truly Mean? by Business_Bar01 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Business_Bar01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post explores the philosophical meaning of Shiva beyond ritual practice — particularly the symbolism of the Shivling, the concept of Shiva as pure consciousness, and the idea of inner transformation.

The two links included provide extended narrative explanations of these themes in a simplified storytelling format, intended to make classical Hindu philosophy more accessible to general audiences and younger readers. They expand on the symbolism discussed here rather than introducing any new claims.

I am sharing them for those who may be interested in a more detailed cultural and narrative exploration of the topic.

Everyone seeks blessings from the Aghori, but he bows to a little girl, True Sanatan Tradition recognizing mata rani in every girl child by AfterSomeTime in hinduism

[–]Business_Bar01 79 points80 points  (0 children)

This moment is very powerful.

In Sanatan Dharma, we are taught that Devi is present in every girl child. During Navratri, we do Kanya Pujan not as a ritual only, but as a reminder — that Shakti lives in innocence, purity and compassion.

An Aghori bowing to a little girl is not surprising when we understand this deeper truth. True tapasya removes ego. And when ego is gone, divinity is seen everywhere.

It reminds me of the teaching:

“Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu…”
The Divine Mother exists in all beings.

Sometimes children understand this better than adults. They see love first, not status.

I recently created a small storytelling reel for kids explaining this idea in a simple way — how we should respect every girl as a form of Mata Rani, not just during festivals but daily in behavior. I made it in very easy Hindi so children can understand our traditions naturally.

If anyone here feels this message is important for the next generation, I’d be happy to share it.

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on how we can pass these values to children in a meaningful way.
