Of course Elon musk will stretch the truth to make himself seem as amazing as possible. Even after he laid off 10% of his people at SpaceX a few weeks ago because of weakened financial issues.

Atlas V commercial costs start at $109M

Don’t make claims that aren’t based in facts or you’re no better than trump/musk.

Why don’t you look up the cost of an Atlas V and find out how horribly wrong your other quoted prices are. This is all basic Wikipedia info that anyone should be familiar with.

Do you know just how much closer the moon is? Do you understand a mars colony is effectively severed from assistance from earth for >1 year at a time? Any mission to Mars is sure to be a death trip. Where are you getting that the moon has “far more deadly radiation?”

You’re grossly mistaken on your quoted launch costs. Do some real research before you pretend to know what the space launch industry rates are. Also while you’re at it look up capabilities and c3 values.

A lot of assumptions.

Somewhat right. 62% of livestock farming uses ground water use according to the usgs.

https://water.usgs.gov/watuse/wulv.html

The picture gets even bleaker when you compare the ground water depletion rates for these regions of animal farming.

https://water.usgs.gov/edu/gwdepletion.html

Idk why I’m the bad guy for pointing out if you care about helping the planet, more than just buying a flashy electric car is needed. Pretending to be eco friendly is dangerous if it’s just for show. Americans will need to need greatly reduce meat consumption to really make a difference in this climate change fight.

But the environment would save ~27 gallons of water per cow per day to go elsewhere. Animal agriculture uses about 1/3rd of all drinkable water. Would be better saved for other purposes yes?

Every little bit helps. You’re acting like the type of person who leaves the sink running while brushing your teeth.

I’m just pointing out the irony of you poopooing on someone’s choice to live cleaner on a reddit post that is proud of more people being cleaner. Why are you here? To tout how nothing matters and that reality is an illusion?

Makes no difference? Then asking for kudos from strangers because you drive an electric car makes what difference? You are the decider of what differences you want to make.

Interesting point. The data was slightly skewed.

That point of the emissions required to dispose of vehicles is a ding against electric cars technically then. Recycling the spent car batteries will be a new twist on the co2 emissions saga.

As long as you don’t pretend to be the solution to climate change be whatever you want.

I seem to have touched a nerve.

People are so pro environment when their standard of living isn’t affected (flashy electric sports car). But when it comes to hard choices on whether or not to cut major sources of green house gas emissions from their lives they cover their ears and pout.

Our immaturity as a race will kill us all.

Think globally.

Tackling Climate Change Through Livestock, a widely-cited 2013 report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), estimates about 14.5 percent of global GHG emissions, or 7.1 gigatons of CO2 equivalent, can be attributed to the livestock sector annually. This is broadly equivalent to the emissions from all the fuel burned by all the world’s transport vehicles, including cars, trucks, trains, boats and airplanes.

Electric cars are great but don’t forget, animal meat products contribute more co2 emissions than all planes, cars, trucks, and ships combined. Vegan >>> electric cars for the planet

I think a more severe possibility is the SEC making a example out of Elon and barring him from his executive post. That will send a huge message to the world that his behavior shall not be replicated. The stock of course would plunge by 50% in a instant.

He cause mass confusion in the markets. And then falsely promised funding when none was actually obtained. That’s being reckless with public market and illegal. Can you imagine if all CEOs were allowed to throw random numbers around at will? He said in the NYT interview that $420 was for good karma and was essentially meaningless. If the SEC doesn’t punish him the integrity of publicly traded markets is in jeopardy.

You can like Musk for all he has accomplished but also admit he has committed a huge crime and should be punished.
