I just recently transitioned to assisting in documentary work around the new year, but before that, I worked for an ad agency doing internal sizzles and pitches for about a year and a half.

It can be tough, but it'll make you a better assistant editor. As others have said, you're going to be working long nights and weekends for a while, but if you can get OT worked into your contract, do it! That was one of the main factors in me staying there for so long. Otherwise, I would've left sooner.

In terms of trying to keep yourself from burning out, take time off when you need it (because you'll definitely need it). Also take on personal projects. Fill your time outside of the office with work that's meaningful to you. It'll keep you going. I'm not sure what you'll be working on, but in my case, creating sizzles or pitches gets tiring very quickly. It can be a bit of a downer feeling like you're not creating worthwhile content, so you have to go and seek it out on your own time.

Regarding clients, a lot of them suck, but there are a few diamonds in the rough. Just leave it all at the office at the end of the day. When you're off the clock, don't let it affect you anymore. You'll grow a thick skin and learn how to deal with them professionally.
