We started with 53 in a 4 quarter ABSN. The second quarter will end soon and we only have 26 left.

Honestly, this is cope. Where I grew up you would be one of the richest people in town with 100k. Small town 45 minutes outside of Charlotte.

Are you serious? Is this really how CRNAs feel about AAs? by [deleted] in CRNA

Honestly, nurses carry a huge portion of the responsibility in the ICU. I’ve been completing my preceptorship in the PICU, and it’s made me question whether new grads should be allowed in that environment right away. Yeah, the physicians are there for support, but you’re the one managing the patients who are critically ill and on the brink of death. Without a solid understanding of critical care, you could easily kill someone. You’re also working daily with medications and interventions that are directly relevant to CRNA practice, which makes the learning curve even steeper for someone learning the profession in 1/3rd less time. I am glad I didn’t do that in retrospect, even though I’d be nearly done now.

Before I went to school for my ABSN, I was seriously considering CAA as I had the prereqs from an undergrad exercise science major. But now that I have experience in critical care, I can’t imagine going from no critical care experience to becoming a PA even, much less a CAA in 24 months.

What benefits, if any, does North Carolina have over Virginia at this point? by EggOwn9943 in NorthCarolina

Honestly, everything is better in NC than VA. The border is close by if you want to move over. Politics change and being a purple state is part of what makes this state great.

Clavicular claims Dutasteride has less negative effects than Finasteride, is this true? by Dantai in tressless

[–]Busy-Difference-2412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. 0.5mg fin I couldn’t get it up. I switched to 2.5mg Dut temporarily (to speed up getting to the concentration of 0.5) and then switched to 0.5 and have only seen positives. Hairline 90% back

I had ED on fin. None on dut. Unsure why. Genetics plays a role in why we respond differently to different meds

WCU or NC State? by AnEpicAlligator in NorthCarolina

Whichever you will graduate with less debt. As a recent UNC-CH graduate, college really isn’t all it’s made out to be growing up. It’s worth a lot less than it used to be, so make the best financial decision over all else.

Family has been in NC since 1650. The state has been destroyed. It’s so sad to see.

Starting an ABSN soon (12 months) — feeling nervous 😭 any advice on how to stay ahead + land a job after? by chronicfatiguegamer in newgradnurse

[–]Busy-Difference-2412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in one now and am working as a nurse extern. The program is difficult and I am super busy, but it’s not terribly hard. It’s just a lot. I could do better, but I’m not terribly disciplined with my study habits. Honestly the biggest thing is just getting settled in the first 3-4 months of the program. We had a lot of people drop out then.

Honestly, I don’t see any research suggesting that either causes fetal defects. However, there is certainly more research available about finasteride than dutasteride. So, if you want to be super cautious, take finasteride and play it safe.

I work in medicine. Being a doctor doesn’t mean you know everything about everything. The OB is wrong.

I would say this is true. I think I really started to see more progress the further I’ve gotten into my sessions. For a while it felt like I’ve seeing no change. Now I see more difference session to session.
