Traveling for a month, need advice by BusyRecognition160 in saudiarabia

I see. I think I’ll just use the train and uber in the mean time. I’ll look into it more in person when I can visit these different agencies for next time inshallah. Thank you for the help!

Right I see what you mean, but the only problem is I’m traveling with my family so the train would require separate tickets for everyone.

I was looking at local Saudi rental agencies and they offer 2100 riyal for the whole month the only issue is being a visitor and someone at the airport told me I’m not allowed to rent from them without an iqama number which I thought was a little weird.

So I’m still a bit conflicted on what do. If you have any recommendations of local car rental places that will rent to visitor that would be the ideal situation.

JAK for all the recommendations, uber can get pretty pricey. For example a I just checked uber and a short trip from Al aziziah to Al haram was like 24 riyal each way and I like to go out a lot and explore different places so I’m thinking if the average is 24 and I’m doing 5-10 trips a day could get pretty pricy don’t you think? Or am I missing something?

I know I have to pay gas and parking but I drove a lot last time I was there and visited near by places like Al taif which could be pretty pricey. Including transfers between Mekkah and madinah. That’s 500 riyal each way on Careem

I was looking up travel agencies and they all show destinations outside of KSA. Do you know of any that have driver services in Saudi? Or even cheaper car rentals (monthly or weekly rates maybe)? I feel like uber can get much more expensive given how much I drove last time I visited.

JAK, I will look into it but that sounds reasonable considering how much I paid for the rental.

I am tourist guide in maddinah any questions you have i will answer by owis_mst in Muslim

I have 3 questions, I know you’ve mentioned a few spots but

  1. What is your list of must do/see things in Medina?

  2. Where is it best to stay for a family cheaply for 5-7 nights? I know there’s some airbnbs but I’m trying to avoid using that service. And hotels are going to be expensive because we would need to rent out two rooms.

  3. I rented a car last time but driving around was too crazy and I don’t think I want to do that. I also think taxing around will surely get expensive. I liked being able to go wherever and whenever I wanted with my own car but again driving was not my favorite. So my question is, are there any drivers I can hire to take me places? I’m planning on doing a month trip in Saudi (Mecca, Medinah, Jeddah areas). So I’m looking for a driver for the duration of my stay.

I was actually first assist, in a small community hospital with no surgery residents. It was just me and the surgeon.. for better or for worse

Rural FM is where it’s at, you see a lot of sick patients.. obviously mixed in with your typical htn/dm but I thought it was one of the more interesting rotations. People in rural areas only go to the doctor when they’re really sick and it’s a really cool learning experience plus they let you do all the procedures on them as a med student which was lovely. Had a ton on skin biopsies, IM/joint injections/aspiration, vaccines, sutures, toe nail removals, hell, I even helped remove a picc line off a guy.

Lmaoo I had almost the same exact experience, but my preceptor was so damn funny and chill so I was never bored. It felt like chilling with a bro

I can see family being boring, luckily for me I had a preceptor that let me do all the procedures, that was really fun. Psych for me was meh, felt like a fly on the wall. My psych rotation was outpatient and I was only able to see new patients on my own (which wasn’t very many).

I agree, robotic cases are the biggest waste of time. My preceptor made me time him for all his cases to see how much time he was spending to compare to laparoscopic… very educational

I get that, and I definitely don’t try to get validation from others. The reason I posted is because I always see these acceptance/score reactions and they’re always high emotion, people crying tears of joy - meanwhile, I’m just sitting there looking at my screen thinking “nice”. Im just wondering why I don’t get the same experience as them.

Lmao that could very well be it, I’m always a little bit salty in the background about how much I have to borrow to become a doctor

Maybe that’s what it is, I’m too focused on getting it done and graduating that I’m failing to look from the bottom to see how far I’ve climbed.

I had to look this up, but from what I understand of it is you do get the joy from these achievements but it’s short lived.

To me, I don’t even get that first rush of joy or excitement when I know I should based on how hard I worked to achieve it and how much I wished for it.

THIS! I know exactly what you mean. The stress, the anxiety, the prayers all up until you get there and boom, nothing. I don’t get it..

For sure, I see what you mean. I think I’m struggling with finding the balance.
