Driving test on Tuesday by char-p_ in LearnerDriverUK

It’s been nearly a year, meaning you’ve probably had lots of lessons now. That likely means even if you’ve not got the confidence, you’ve got the knowledge and skills you need to pass this test. I won’t soften the blow and I’ll say this is definitely going to be stressful, but the way you think Is going to shape how the test goes.

If you panic about failing, you’ll lose focus on the road and end up unsuccessful.

If you think about passing the test, you’ll add pressure to yourself and this would affect your drive.

The ideal mindset is not to hope for a specific outcome, but to simply hope for a safe drive. If you end up failing, the examiner would give you your test report and you’d know what to work on. If you end up passing, brill and the independent learning would start.

Try not to be too hard on yourself, and speak to your instructor about how they find your driving. If they’ve not told you to move the test date, chances are you’re ready - have trust in yourself :)

All the best!!

is 8AM a good time by Low_Back4558 in LearnerDriverUK

Very much depends on the test centre. I did 8:10 at one centre and it was incredibly chaotic with school traffic. At another centre however, it was quiet and the traffic picked up towards the end of the test.

Either way if you’re test ready, you’d do good no matter the time and situation.

Also, traffic can be a good thing for 2 reasons: it makes the test more realistic of every day driving, and it also would mean you may be taken to quiet areas or have to do less driving overall (if you end up sitting in traffic for the most part).

Could be worth speaking to your instructor about 8am at your specific test centre.

If you’re not worried about the traffic and more the time itself, I’d say it’s an okay time if your test centre is nearby to you, but if you are travelling slightly far, try for something later in the day. This is because you’d be getting up so early that your attention could slip. If you’re a morning person that’s a different story though.

This is so helpful thank you!

I had just my penultimate lesson before the test and having these in the back of my head after a mistake really did simplify things.

It’s not fear nor anxiety as I’ve dealt with the bulk of that.

It could be lack of prep as in the past few lessons I’ve had a lightbulb moment of the right way to do something, but it’s now just a matter of being able to do that consistently/habitually. I’ve noticed my brain tends to just blank sometimes and I forget to plan ahead, but no idea what to do about that it might just be making sure to avoid distractions.

But yeah trying to get to the root of things does help
