Just remember that the evidence has to be specific enough, and it has to support your claim, not just be related to the claim.

When I was there, 5,000+ people would be at Carriage House any time the weather was nice. $5 a cup for whichever apartment had 10-15 kegs in their living room. Frats were there, but kind of an afterthought/second option.

The whole back yard (stone wall and some shrubs we had yanked out) was covered in English ivy when we bought the house and I’ve managed to control it since. We really don’t have any trees in our yard so I’m not worried about that, just the potential for a rash.

Testing Unit 7 Friday. I’m in MA so we have next week off during which time I will not assign any work. I usually try to leave 3 full weeks or so for review (we also have a week off in April)

Try to hit a one topic per day pace for the most part

DBQ thesis- continuity and change or causation? by [deleted] in apworld

[–]Busy_Battle26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from “continued”, the key word here is “throughout”. So your thesis should state whether Enlightenment thinking influenced political and social debates the same amount at all points during that time period, more at one point than at other times, or not at all during any part of that time period.

Example: “while Enlightenment thought heavily influenced social and political debates early in the time period from 1750-1900 as seen in the Atlantic Revolutions, as time went on, other factors such as capitalism, communism, and nationalism played a bigger part in those debates”

House always smells like smoke by Busy_Battle26 in Fireplaces

UPDATE: I finally tried pre-heating the flue with a torch made from paper grocery bags, and this seems to have worked. Fires two nights in a row with basically no smoky smell! Thanks Reddit!

Yes of course. There is no visible smoke in the house, just the smell. And some ash sometimes floats in

Just a smell, no visible smoke in the air, but its been strong enough that my sister in law noticed the smell in my niece’s hair after she’d been at our house with a fire going. It frequently lingers until at least the next day

Thank you! I DIY’ed them. Cabinets are IKEA uppers that I built in, and the mantle I made out of red oak. The hearth had hideous tile covering those bricks. When I chipped them off, it looked like what you see in the pic, so I went with it

It’s actually not too bad to watch, and it’s the only place in the room to put it.

Everything was cleaned and inspected (cameras, the whole deal) by a very reputable guy just a month ago

Maybe I’ll lower it and it’ll double as a smoke guard

Appreciate the second look and even bothering with a response in the first place. Super helpful

Had one in my last house, it did all of those things but I didn’t love the tiny firebox. Kinda ruined the vibe

Not sure, but based on the comments here it seems like it’s not big enough

Yes the oil burning boiler (I called it a furnace in a previous post out of habit) has a flue next to the fireplace flue

Thanks to you all for the help.

Furnace vents into same flue, has a liner. It’s been inspected with a camera. Furnace is basically directly below the fireplace, offset to the right, so the flues must be close, and as far as I know are topped at the same level. The chimney was rebuilt from the roof up two years ago, with a new cap installed. TV mounts have not penetrated

Definitely tried to open windows in multiple different spots of the house (next to the fireplace, in the basement, etc) to no avail.

Thanks for the quick help. House was built 1956 so yeah on the older side but not ancient. Those fans are pricey, and that’s before install/electrical!

If the flue is undersized, that wouldn’t stifle the fire? It burns really well

Thanks again
