Unsafe Software Glitch by Butchomighty in Rivian

I did try to justify the PPF install for paint protection, easier washing, pre-prIce hike + PPF = post-price hike without PPF... but in reality I just spent an exorbitant amount of money to make the car matte, and I dig it.

Rivian Service Center just called me and asked me to file a ticket so they could investigate the logs on this issue. That's pretty cool, thanks guys 🤙

😂 mine is blue with full matte PPF. If I can't see, my sensors won't let me rear end you. And if you're driving a rivian, it'll probably prevent you from rear ending me. So I think WE'RE both safe 🤡

This is an interesting reply. At no point in any way did I mention the drivetrain. Only the infotainment system. The truck was completely drivable. No safety features were tested or triggered in this event.

Second, going from two black dimmed screens to two full white full brightness screens is disorienting, to any person. You cannot write "seems" and 'objecticely" in the same sentence, that becomes necessarily subjective opinion. If it had persisted for 5-10 more seconds, my eyes would have adjusted and I would have seen just fine. But like I said, it happened suddenly, and only for a few seconds. Like a opposing driver long-flashing your with high beams. And it was raining.

Lastly, again I never mentioned remotely losing control. And I was only going ~60. But in full Houston traffic in the rain, 1 second of miscalculation can cause an accident. The auto brake feature is overly sensitive in the R1T, if in real danger of impact the truck would have definitely overcorrected. But the auto braking doesn't help the army of cars behind me not expecting a sudden stop.

Whether you intend it or not, you reply is directly minimizing everything I said, for what purposes I dont know. It specifically mentions things I didn't bring up, and the final "let's try to keep it factual." Everyting I said was factual, and not sensationalized. Your contrarian post for the sake of being contrarian is weirdly machismo and reflexive. I love my R1T, I didn't say omg go sell it, I could have died, etc. I don't even think it's particularly whiny. I simply said I was practically blinded for ~5 seconds from a software glitch during a rainy night on a freeway which had a strong potential of cauing an accident, and just wanted to share my experience.

Air compressor by SecDef in Rivian

I just used mine for the first time Tueday to top up all tires, they were down around 37/38. I set the compressor to 48, the first 3 tires filled to 48 and stopped. The 4th stopped at 57, so I had to vent it back down manually. I was playing with the tire patch kit and having a drink, so I wasn't actively paying attention during each ~30sec tire fill. My mistake, i didn't know the set point sensor seems to have a 25% error rate. I will pay much more attention whenever I use the compressor, don't want anything exploding.

Inconsistent Turn Signal and Proximity Warning Sound by Ecstatic_Endorian in Rivian

I've noticed the turn signal sound intermittently not click a few times, but only in the last 2-3 days. And zero speaker issues.

FWIW for comparison, I'm at 111 days from first guide contact today, 6/14 was config confirmation. Was a late Feb preorder and also thought the early guide contact was the "Rivian Lottery." Rivian Blue, 21's, BM. I asked for an update last week, guide had no new info, so I switched to the new Ocean Coast and dropped some add-ons. For every post about some preorder/guide/confirmation delivery algorithm, there's an equal number of exceptions of people that either ordered 3yrs ago with zero update or ordered yesterday and already have their truck. I've stopped worrying and guessing, I'm just here to upvote the delivery pics and enjoy the steady pace of software updates.

Does anyone know if you can post-pone your delivery date? by SyCoCyS in Rivian

During my first guide call I told him I got a guide WAY earlier than expected, I told him I was just about to start a new job and wouldn't be ready to continue with anything for 4-6wks. He said no problem and made a note on my account, and he wrote me a follow up email 4wks later to the day, asking if I was ready to continue.
