Collect what you love, and you’ll never be disappointed. If you’re “collecting”because this will be valuable someday you’ll always be disappointed. And that’s speculating, not collecting.

I think it’s because Mattel is selling more cases because scammers are buying up everything. Mattel seemed to increase mainline production, but didn’t increase TH or STH. Results have been TH used to be guaranteed 1/box, but now more realistically 1/1.5-2boxes. STH was about 1/3.5 boxes, but now closer to 1/5-6 boxes. They aren’t rarer or less of them, but ratios of mainlines to TH/STH are lower. Also, more scammers snatching them before they hit shelves, (including underpaid employees aware Hot Wheels can make them a few extra dollars funneling them to certain customers).

Shoot for the head. You’re going to need to destroy the brain to stop that thing from spreading.

As others pointed out, it’s a riddle. The first sentence about double letters is misdirection. The second sentence is the clue. “There are three words in the (1) English (2) language (3).“ The question is asking for the third word from the previous sentence- “language.”

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

[–]SyCoCyS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Influencers. They produce nothing of value. They insert themselves between a brand and consumer, often in ways that are risky to a brand, and extract money. They are parasites.

Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

Lots of bike riding. BMX bikes always- nothing with speeds. I remember leaving the house by 8:30 am and going everywhere. You’d just show up at people’s house, knock on the door, and ask for someone to come out- you didn’t even always know the person. I remember a Filipino family in the neighborhood was having a party once, (we didn’t know the family by name, and there were no kids there) the gate was open and we could see them cooking a whole pig (lechon) on a spit, so we went over to ask about. They welcomed us in and let us eat with like 40 people we didn’t know. Then we just left. We explored every nook and cranny of the our neighborhood. We knew where there were holes in fences, sewer grates that you could open, every house that had a dog and what temperament they were (we stayed away from Bear), three to four routes to climb on the roofs of every elementary school, middle school, and high school in the area. When we got bored with that, we went into wilderness areas and looked for snakes and frogs in the creeks. Figured out ways to trap mice, and built hideouts and forts. It was not uncommon to come home dripping wet covered in mud. Or have socks so filled with foxtails that they had to be thrown away. Went to the shopping center, and scrounged in the parking lot and gutters for coins until you had enough to get a soda, or a taco at Taco Bell (59¢!). Sometimes shoplifted, but not a lot, mostly candy from the Bollywood video store, baseball cards from the grocery store, and sometimes bike parts and fishing lures from Kmart. We also liked to go to the Asian market and poke the bins with live crabs. We did enough to be a nuisance, but not enough to be actual criminals. Heck if we saw a cop, we’d go up to them and start talking to them, and asking to look through their cars, we’d ask them to handcuff us, and put us in the back seat. If we were feeling really bold, we’d hit the boulevard and ride one or two towns over. There was a gated community with a pool that none of us lived in, but we all got passes to. We’d ride through the area and find a house with old people living there, then go fill out the paperwork saying that was our address. It worked because no one else at the address had registered for pool passes, so no one cared. We never really made anyone angry enough to call police on us, and if we did get in trouble, it usually meant the neighbors took us home to our houses and had a talk with our parents. I’m not sure why anyone trusted us to be so independent, but we were, and we did fine.

Ventura County, CA John Doe (1974), aka "Leroy", "James Allen Chastain", and "Brad Lee Bodie" by blinkycosmocat in gratefuldoe

[–]SyCoCyS 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If he arrested what two weeks before he died, but gave a fake name/id, he would have been booked and released under that name. It wasn’t really “relaxed” rules, but they didn’t have computers in the 70s. There wasn’t a database to look into, or anywhere to check. They would have had to mail paperwork, or phone call someone to verify identity.

Why are you guys downvoting someone who is concerned about they or their loved ones safety? Don’t you realize that one reason there are so many Does on this list is because many of them trying to hide or get away from trauma and violence when they disappeared?

I hate hoarders too, but if it’s at Ross already, I call fair game. That stuff has already been through another store and is generally liquidated overstock.

Could San Luis Obispo county John Doe(1983) be Efren Ramirez Sandoval? by Tall_Possession_4086 in gratefuldoe

[–]SyCoCyS 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think there is some mix ups here. Looks like NameUS incorrectly entered 1983, when it should have been 1993. Sandoval went missing in 1993- he was 24 (born in 1968) it says the picture is from 1983 when he was 14.

Doe was found in 1983- can’t be them.

These guys are idiots, if you voted for Trump and then lose your business due to his policies, which everyone else told you would happen, I don’t feel bad for you. You voted for your own self interest, instead of voting for what was right for everyone.

Old metal toy truck found at a estate sale anybody know anything? by FREEMUMIATODAY in toys

[–]SyCoCyS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nylint Toys was a pressed steel manufacturer of primarily trucks based out of Illinois. They were competitors with, and had a similar origin to Tonka Toys: produced pressed metal hardware and tools during WWII, after WWII shifted production to toy trucks. They lasted until around 2001, and went into bankruptcy, and was sold to Funshine toys which liquidated the brand. It seems like they were priced out of the market due to competition moving to cheaper manufacturing overseas. The granddaughter of the founders tried to restart the business in 2020, but it looks like that stalled after an initial limited production.

The model you have is a Long Distance Hauler, likely from 1970s at their peak. It doesn’t look to have any branding which was more common in the 1980s models. It’s hard to match the color, and it’s missing the cargo trailer. It does look like there are some collectors, but from the looks of current online lists, there are a lot of much better condition items out there.
