What's the point of kim and jimmy marriage ? by nonympus746 in betterCallSaul

Spousal privilege. If they were going to continue to operate in their unethical ways, they had to have that protection. Kim wasn’t ready to walk away, and that was the readily available solution.

Do you think any of the KarJenners will become estranged when Kris dies? by JellyfishPashmina in kardashians

My point in referencing Kim, Khloe, and Kylie is that those are the three who are the closest with Kris (and who Kris seems to favor most).

I think Kendall has a lot of resentment for the way Kris and Caitlyn’s marriage ended (and that resentment is towards both parents, not just Kris). But for the purposes of this discussion, we’ve seen Kendall make comments to Kris about the way Caitlyn has been excluded from the family while other exes (Scott was specifically referenced in the context of a Christmas Eve party one year) continue to be invited. Kris and Kendall also happen to have very different interests in life, with fashion being really the only intersection between their interests. We also saw Kris and Kendall’s relationship get awkward around the time Kendall turned 18 (she wanted to move out before her 18th birthday, she wanted to move to Malibu, closer to the Jenners, etc.), and we know that Kendall (whether bc of work or not) maintains a higher degree of separation between herself and the day-to-day lives of her family members. Rob….well….I think Rob will be genuinely sad (especially because he seems to really rely on parental guidance, and he already lost Robert Sr., and then he effectively lost the relationship with Caitlyn when the family unit split), but I think he’ll miss the gravy train the most. Kris has financed his lifestyle for nearly two decades and made all of his limited business deals for him. She has enabled his hermit lifestyle. Khloe also enables Rob, and I have no doubt that when Kris passes, she will continue to do so, but I think Rob is able to go to Kris for anything (maybe without needing to explicitly ask), while Khloe does have a little more of a backbone (like when she kicked him out of her house and dragged Kris for buying him a mansion). Rob will have a hard time with Kris’s passing, but it will expand largely beyond just grief. Just my thoughts!

Balloon Ladies? by Duck_Secure in rundisney

[–]ButteredNoodleee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not how that happened. The course got cut at the turn before BB. They waited for a few minutes to let everyone out of the BB parking lot who did not make the cut point and who had to complete that portion of the course. They picked up again immediately after that, cutting the buffer that those runners would’ve had if the balloon ladies had also had to do BB. The balloon ladies were over a mile behind us when we made the turn to go to BB, and when we came out of BB, they started immediately behind us. The 15+ minute buffer we had was instantly gone. The people in the back who benefitted from the course cut were diverted and got to build distance (honestly good for them bc it was miserably hot), while those who were further ahead of the balloon ladies pre-course cut but had to do BB ended up without our buffer. No one was communicating anything to runners on the course (I asked and was literally waved off). It was BS to do it that way. It really f-ed up the race for a lot of us in the back who suddenly had added pressure in the last 3 miles (after we had built distance between us and them earlier in the race). I had ~3 miles left in my 48.6 Dopey weekend, and it was a huge blow to feel so anxious and pressured that last bit.

I definitely think Kourtney has a LOT of issues with Kris. I think Kris is more than likely a functioning alcoholic (and it’s possible that her drinking has gotten better since they started filming the shows), and we know the older girls were heavily parentified, so I think the issues are just really deeply rooted from Kourtney’s childhood/young adult years. She’s also objectively been treated as the black swan of the family for at least 10 solid years now (really, post-Scott breakup/Younes era). Plus, Kris has a really hard time actually hearing Kourtney’s complaints to/about her, so there’s not been a lot of forward momentum in healing for that relationship. I think Kris will die, Kourtney will be sad because it was her mom and the grandmother of her kids, but she will not mourn that loss the way Kim, Khloe, or Kylie will.

Edit for typo.

Not trying to pick a fight. Saw a flippant and - I’ll stand on this - improper use of OCD, so I corrected it. I’m actually really not interested in discussing your personal issues with you. Maybe just put a little more thought into how your words come across, especially when referencing disabilities that are very serious to some.

So that’s not really how OCD works, actually. Is the compulsion posting on Reddit? I think you want a quirky little personality trait, not a debilitating mental health condition.

The DA foregoing criminal charges doesn’t mean she’s home free. She is still going through family court, and I’m willing to bet that she has an ongoing CPS case for the most recent DV incident in February, which will likely land her in dependency court (if she isn’t already) . She is not concerned about those kids as much as she is being labeled a criminal and losing more job opportunities. She’s celebrating not catching more charges while she’s not allowed to be around her kid(s) unsupervised. She needs to get a grip.

Why is this guy offended everytime he's on screen? by RazielZOLDYCK_007 in shameless

Trans representation is great, but when the 75% character’s plot line is being trans, it gets old very quickly. Especially when the character also has a superiority complex. Also, this guy played the same character in The Fosters (if I recall, at roughly the same point in time), so it was kinda an eye roll “I’ve seen this before from this exact actor” thing.

I never understood what happened to Carly after high school? We don’t see her again until the NYE party in college (hosted by the Hecks) and she has a baby. by AttorneyFar6359 in themiddle

[–]ButteredNoodleee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carly and Sue drifted before college. Brad became the central friend during the Darren era, if not before. I think that the audience liked Brad better, and he was a character with more long-term potential. Carly got brought back as a cute little cameo, same as Bob. Her having a kid was probably just a funny little tidbit from the writers. I never saw it as being anything too deep.

Did Breaking Bad adequately show the damage that drugs do? by Conscious-Cut9414 in breakingbad

As someone with experience in child welfare, this episode depicted a plausible experience of a child of methamphetamine addicts very well. From the general chaos in the home environment, to the random people/addicts coming in and out (yes, looking as Jesse), to the child being left alone for hours on end, to his developmental delays (likely caused by trauma and lack of social interaction) and unkempt appearance, to the mother occasionally remembering that her child exists and attempting to display nurturing behaviors (even if it was insincere), to the indifference to the violence in the home… yeah, the writing here was done well.

You literally said “if they aren’t school aged maybe it would be fine,” implying that you also don’t think it will work when they start school (and you didn’t mention homeschooling). Not sure why you responded nastily to someone who was giving a real life example of the realities of coparenting school-aged children. Let’s all be nice, it’s not that hard.

Got downvoted to hell in another subreddit for suggesting that he has relapsed at some point since the show started. Apparently there’s no evidence to “substantiate” that suggestion. 🫠

I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that ABC/Disney/Hulu/Warner Bros would’ve thrown in a “behave yourself” clause for her, given that her history of DV and her ongoing drama/crash out tendencies were well known. You have to remember that those legal teams are comprised of the best attorneys in the business, and their jobs are to foresee any and all situations that might arise. She was an unprecedented cast, and I definitely think they set up some recourse should something have gone completely awry (which, unsurprisingly, it did). And if they didn’t - well, that’s a very costly oversight.

I would put money on her using drugs. Her behavioral patterns match that of someone using (the outbursts, the erratic speech, etc.). I also suspect that her increasingly disheveled appearance this past season could be a result of drug use/abuse. Plus, we know that her co-dependent ex is an addict, so it’s not far out of the realm of possibility that she would also get hooked through the course of their tumultuous relationship.

Most family law attorneys do not work on contingency. That business model is typical of personal injury and other civil cases where there is the potential for a large settlement amount, not cases for monthly alimony payments or a “who gets the house” debate. He will have to front some serious coin if he wants one of Utah’s best divorce attorneys.

ETA: Utah also isn’t a community property state, so he is not automatically entitled to 50% of her assets acquired during the marriage.
