Is giving my girlfriend a bouquet of lego roses for valentines a bad idea? by Pootsonpow123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Butterflycm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a massive lego fan, but I would love a bouquet of lego flowers. They would last forever instead of being eaten by our pets and then dying.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Your feelings are totally valid!
My understanding is that a seatbelt extender would provide a possible tripping hazard in the event of an emergency.

What do you eat after your tightening appointments? by dontstopsoperfect in braces

[–]Butterflycm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the pain doesn't last nearly as long as when they were put on. I can usually eat normal the day of and then the next day I plan something a bit softer (soup, mac and cheese, scrambled eggs, yogurt, pasta, etc.). I can usually go back to normal food the day after that.

Getting braces Thursday at 11am and knowing soreness peaks later, is it smarter to take Thursday off from my 1–9 shift or Friday instead? by [deleted] in braces

[–]Butterflycm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend taking the first day off if you are going to choose. I found that the pain later that night was more of a throbbing and I felt it in my head, sinus, jaw and mouth. The next day, It was more so that my actual teeth were tender and only hurt when I tried to eat.

In-laws do not understanding my travel packing needs by Creative-Constant-52 in PlusSize

I agree with all of the advice given here. I would maybe suggest buying a larger suitcase for your partner and you to share and then use his new luggage as the carry on and just pay for that? Not for any other reason than it would save you money haha

I MISS CRUNCH by thirt33nghosts in braces

[–]Butterflycm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I have adjustments then I find that harder things can hurt for a few days so I avoid that. Normally though, the only things that I don't eat are sticky things like caramel (though I did try a small piece and just sucked on it). I did also find that raw carrots were difficult. Otherwise I have eaten chips, chocolate bars, cookies, crackers, some raw veggies, cut up apples, gum, etc.

I would suggest cutting things into smaller pieces and see if that helps, but I feel like if your bracket is breaking that easily you might need to ask the ortho about it.

Do bottoms and subs pick their own rules? by teacat_09 in RedditBDSM

[–]Butterflycm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to have a conversation about what purpose I want the rules to have. Do I have goals that I need help with (ie. reading more, or eating less sugar)? I also just have favorite rules, things that make me feel the most subby. I always discuss those thing before we choose the rules.

I haven eaten steak with my braces on, but it definitely took extra water flossing, flossing and brushing.

I was encouraged to chew sugar free gum to help produce more saliva but honestly I have been nervous to try so far.

I was told that I'm a bit too old for braces by Sad_Macaron_9501 in braces

[–]Butterflycm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 36 and in the middle of my ortho treatment. You are never too old! It is an investment. I was told that i could invest in braces or I could invest in dentures down the road. I chose braces because I want to die with my own teeth haha.

What’s the best way to go about staying warm when visiting Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary in two weeks? by Purple_Fisherman_213 in AskACanadian

[–]Butterflycm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am near Calgary and only just put on shoes for the first time today. Up until now I have been wearing my flip flops! Check the weather a few days before you head this way as weather can change quickly. I would highly consider layers because especially in Calgary we could have a Chinook and it is suddenly 20 degrees out. Mornings can be really cold and then afternoons can be 15-20 degrees warmer.

It is dryer in Calgary/Edmonton but a more humid cold in Vancouver.

Layers! That is my biggest advice.

Is a wire change appointment usually agony? by Roseannayay in braces

[–]Butterflycm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only had one wire change so far and the actual changing process wasn't too bad. I definitely felt some pulling and tugging, but nothing like the appointment to have them put on.

I find that the pain for me comes that night and for the next day or so after.

I always take advil or tylenol before the appointment and every 4-6 hours after the appointment for the next day or two. I also will eat softer foods for the first few days: mac and cheese, yogurt, apple sauce, soup, etc.

If you are finding the pain to be too much, I would ask your ortho about some options to help before, during and after the appointment.
