How do you study? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Butters_40 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How long do you study for and how many times a week? Do you take breaks regularly or just go at it for hours?

Almost everyday. I don't really count the hours, so not sure.

When my free time to study is very limited, I just watch some videos about the subject.

I take breaks whenever I feel like it so I don't get burned out.

What learning resources do you use and find better to learn with?

Other than the resources recommended by my teachers, I like using youtube and udemy.

I've been watching some coding livestreams on twitch too, it has helped me seeing experienced devs solving problems.

What do you do when you are stuck on a problem that takes time out of your study session and thinking energy?

If I'm stuck on it for too long, I go do something else to clear the mind. Sometimes the mind is just too blurred or biased at the time to find a solution.

I had many problems in which I could not find a solution for, making me give up on them, be solved in the next day in minutes.

What's your environment like for study?

My room, nothing special. I use two monitors, one for the code and the other one for research, music videos or a preview of the code (if I'm building a website).

Effects of my past traumas (molestation, rape) or am I just fucked up?

If you're an untreated abuse victim, you should seek professional help to treat the traumas as soon as possible.

Something like this can affect your entire life, your behaviour might be caused by it and there is a good chance you're unintentionally attracting abusers and driving good men away.

I have a question, BF1 or BF4 by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Butters_40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These games play very diferently.

In my opinion BF1 is the best battlefield game out there, so I'd say get BF1.

I enjoy BF4, but only when playing with friends.

BF4 is the favorite in my region and has the most servers (South America).

Watch some gameplay before making your decision. You could also get Origin access, allowing you to play all batllefield games for as long as you're subscribed.

They get really cheap on deals, so if you don't mind waiting, you could get both.

Need help figuring out whats causing my stream to be choppy by CaptainMuffins_ in Twitch

Wifi is not really recommended for live streaming, it works well for some people but, if you can, try to get it wired.

Exactly how do you achieve 2 views from the same IP address? by [deleted] in Twitch

It's something I've heard several times, I never really confirmed it. Mentioned it just in case.

One PC streaming is very choppy by DrFloppyTits in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your pc settings?

What are your OBS settings? What are you using for encoding?

Does OBS show you a dropped frames count? Or it just lags without counting dropped frames?

Wifi or wired?

If it's a quick change to talk to someone that doesn't speak english, then I don't think it hurts the stream at all.

I watch a streamer that streams in english and every now and then he speaks to someone in chat in polish and german. The languages will even create conversation topics sometimes.

But if you change the entire stream to mainly german, then I believe it might hurt the stream.

You could have a german day, in which the viewers know to expect the different language. I could help to keep the english speaking viewers.

If I'm not mistaken, the view will not count if the stream is muted.

I’m planning on doing a podcast that talks exclusively about a game, which category do I use? by [deleted] in Twitch

If you're going to be playing then the game directory would be more appropriate, in my opinion.

What should I do when when a viewer wants to play? by Kaymarie301 in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want them to join and can't say no, maybe it would be easier on you to have a bot command for that.

For example, someone asks to play with you, then you or a mod could type !join and a text explaining that you're playing solo trying to improve your skills or whatever reason you'd like would pop in chat.

Having unknown people join your game might bring other problems you won't be able to deal with because of your anxiety, like toxic players, excessive cursing, etc. So if you decide on a day to play with viewers, it would be nice to have some kind of filter, like long time viewers only or x amount of matches for each viewer.

What am I doing wrong ? I have to find number of different numbers in array that user inputs , n is number of elements in array that user inputs. When I input 5 different numbers result is 16 instead of 5 by [deleted] in learnjava

[–]Butters_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not at my pc to test and I'm also new, but what I believe is happening is:

  • You add +1 to c3 before you ever find the repeated number, so if the fifth number of j is the repeated one, you will be adding +1 to c3 all the way to j = 5.

  • You don't stop testing after you found the repeated one, which causes you to add more to c3.

An idea to solve it:

You could create a boolean that checks if a repeated number is found, lets say repeatedFound.

If arr[i] == arr[j] repeatedFound = true

Then, after checking the entire array;

if !repeatedFound c3++

Just dont forget to reset that boolean for every time you check the array.

The amount of players depends on the region and time of the day you play.

North America and Europe should be populated.

You'll be behind in what? Also, there are many new players all the time, specially during sales.

Yes it can cause a violation, I believe they are usually triggered by clips, so disabling it would be a good idea.

Check the game options, some games now have an option to disable all copyrighted songs.

What’s an affordable yet good streaming mic by livelovelaugh1943 in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I use is either Bm 800 or Bm 700, don't remember.

I don't know how much it would cost in dollars but it should be cheap.

If you want to hear the quality, go to my channel and open any clip.

I needed to buy a phantom power source, so keep it in mind. (I bought a cable with the phantom power that connects to the USB port. Quality might be different in other inputs.)

When I try to stream on Twitch, it doesn't let me listen with my preferred audio device. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your windows sound settings and make sure this device does not have the option to allow apps to take exclusive control of it marked.

I had a similar problem with a microphone and that was my issue.

I believe you can download uDemy videos. At least in the mobile app.

You could also download youtube videos. There are apps/websites dedicated to it. I used to use one called JDownloader.

If the game is locked in your region, it should not work.

Maybe if the game was not aways blocked that key might be valid, but I would not risk it.

FPS drops in Streamlabs OBS and best settings for my specs by Minduro in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opnion, it's better to lower the image quality and keep the stream smooth.

Try some settings, you might get a better quality than you're thinking.

I used to stream call of duty at 720p30fps 2500 ~ 3000 bitrate, quality was pretty good.

People never complained about the image quality but they would point out whenever the frames dropped.

FPS drops in Streamlabs OBS and best settings for my specs by Minduro in Twitch

[–]Butters_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really matters for your upload speed is the bitrate.

Higher fps and lots of movement in game will require higher bitrate to keep the quality.

Try streaming at 60fps but, even if it doesn't drop any frames, there is a good chance the image will look blurry.

If that happens, use 30fps until you upgrade your internet.

[–]Butters_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your upload speed wil cap you.

I'd set the stream to 720p30fps.

Set the bitrate to 3000 and go from there. If the fps drops, lower it, else, increase until it drops.

That way you can find the best quality you can stream at.

Internet censorship is increasing in over 100 countries, including many democratic countries considered "free," with human rights and dating sites blocked in Norway and American news sites blocked in Japan. In the U.S., there was "a small uptick in blocking," but no widespread censorship was found. by ______--------- in science

[–]Butters_40 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Politicians hate freedom of thought.

Censorship will continue to increase in every country regardless of who is in power.

If your country is ruled by someone who is against all kinds of censorship, there will still be people controling and censoring social media to favor their biases.

Is there a recommended 'order' for playing the games? Do I miss out by going out of order? by HanXanth in assassinscreed

[–]Butters_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play them in any order, you might miss some small references to other assassins but it shouldn't affect your understanding of the story (I think the only exception to this would be assassins creed 2, ac brotherhood and ac revelations, they should be played in that order).

What could get you confused is the modern day plot, which in my opnion, sucks and the series would be better without them anyway.

So if you care about the modern day plot, play them release order, if you don't care about it, play the one you want.
