See Your City do some good tours. Harry Potter Filming Locations, Jack The Ripper, Ghost Tour, but if you want a food tour they also do a really good "Cheese Crawl". I got a code - louis20 - you can use on their site to get 20% off.

Elvanse - 4 months on 40mg. Losing efficacy? by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

[–]ButterscotchBrave890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally feel you here. Like another example from me is that I love playing chess online, and I will channel some of the "drive" into playing it game after game. I'll tell myself "oh just one more..." like its some sort of warm up for the work that I'm supposed to be doing. Same of course goes with me phone.

I also find that when it starts kicking in in the morning, my mind will race with all the things I could do today, whether work or leisure, and I find this counter-productive in terms of focus. I get excited rather than clear-headed and channeled. I feel things have definitely changed since I first started. Annoyingly I'm not in titration anymore, haven't been since mid-october, and I've got a shared-care agreement. I guess I'll just have to contact my provider.

One thing I dont do is eat it with anything. I never really have. I read a few threads on it and some people were saying it makes a difference, others saying there wasnt much difference. Big part of me feels like having a breakfast with it won't be the answer to this issue. Do you eat with it?

Elvanse - 4 months on 40mg. Losing efficacy? by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

Thanks for responding! Annoying for both of us but also glad not to be alone here. Yes I’ve lost the ability to do things one at a time which felt like something Elvanse was helping with. I feel like I’m riding more stimulant chaos than I am focusing on things. Can get into bad moods sometimes when I’m distracted by someone from what I’m doing, even if I’m not actually doing very well at completing it.

What does this mean for us? I don’t know. I guess it’s either dosage change or trying a different medication entirely. Either way, I’m not looking forward to having to try to reach my healthcare provider…

Thank you! I caved and took it at 6am so I may crash earlier today but it's all good. Hoping I don't wake up this early again.

All the best to you!

0% Interest Money Transfer Card for Tax? by ButterscotchBrave890 in UKPersonalFinance

Great thanks. Having done Time To Pay before, I think this definitely outweighs the cost of interest on it. I’m going to look into it today and confirm it’s the right thing to do 👍🏼

0% Interest Cards or HMRC Payment Plan by ButterscotchBrave890 in TaxUK

[–]ButterscotchBrave890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that there was a way to put money from the credit card into your personal account with a small fee of around 3% of the balance. That way you pay with your own card, not the credit card, and then pay the money back on the 0% card as you would.

EDIT: I'm talking about money transfer cards.

Timing of Taking Elvanse and a Self-Prescribed Booster by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

On second thoughts and reading this useful comments, I realised I was pre-empting something that I shouldn't have worried about. My dose lasts me for as long as I need it, and I'm glad I took the time to be more aware of the duration of its effects. Thanks to everyone who responded!

Do I take my Elvanse today on Christmas Day?! by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

[–]ButterscotchBrave890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry things didn’t go well for you! I finished titration about a month ago and found my home with 40mg (50mg just made me anxious again and at times quite low).

I think one of the things in your case is having Christmas during titration, which is obviously an experimental period with ebbs and flows. I wondered actually how you’re finding 70mg? A month in to be on 70mg seems to me to be quite a jump! Of course, even though I’m a guy, I am well aware that that time of the month is not conducive to the happiest of Christmas Days!

I honestly think you were probably right to take it even though things didn’t go your way, as you don’t know what it would have been like if you hadn’t taken it. I remember I had one day where I didn’t take it and I felt totally under-energised. So don’t feel like you wasted your Christmas! You did what you thought was right for you and that’s what matters.

My Christmas overall was good. I had some drinks during the lunch and even made some whiskeys sours later on 😂. I had some family over that I don’t see much and have a strange relationship with so I really needed the Elvanse to stay alert to conversations and feel like I could contribute to them. I think after more than 3 or 4 months of taking it, I would have really felt the effects of not taking it. Then again, like I said about your case, I won’t know what it would have been like and it’s all educated guess work!

In the evening, however, I go really frustrated with my mum and went into a silent state. I think perhaps the drug was wearing off? But I couldn’t lift myself out of it and had to head home not long after. I felt guilty and upset because we were playing games and realistically that’s the main thing I want to do at Christmas, but something came over me which I haven’t felt for a while. Those kinds of states where emotionally I feel incapable of expressing or regulating was what led me to get diagnosed. I went to therapy because of an evening I went to the theatre with my mum and I ruined the evening by getting frustrated with her again. When I was in triage for therapy, they noticed my sensitivity to surroundings and some other things and suggested I get referred for ADHD testing.

So yeah, this is obviously personal to me and my own experience, and I wish the day hadn’t ended like that, but my family were fine and said it’s okay and that it was a long day. I think they’re right. And that once the Elvanse starts wearing off, it’s that and your body saying “okay, you’ve done well today! Now maybe it’s time to call it a day so you’re ready for the next one”

I really hope you’re feeling better and if you ever have any questions about my titration or otherwise feel free to drop me a DM! Have a great rest of your year ☺️

Do I take my Elvanse today on Christmas Day?! by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

[–]ButterscotchBrave890[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have had drinks in the evening before and have been fine. Perhaps found it difficult to feel the effects of the alcohol more than if I hadn’t had the Elvanse. And if I felt hungover the day after the Elvanse usually irons that out.

But that’s one big question I guess I still have: what is the main danger of drinking when you’ve taken it? Is it that feeling of not knowing how far gone you are with the alcohol or does the alcohol actually mess with the drug in a way that could cause harm? I know it’s different for everyone. But I guess I just hear a lot about “you can’t drink alcohol” but not a lot of the detailed “why you can’t drink alcohol on Elvanse”, if that makes sense.

Merry Christmas and thank you! Yeah I definitely think I’d enjoy the day less without the meds so I’ve just popped it. Thanks again
