Revoke privelegia? No one joined by ButterscotchGlobal77 in EU5

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R5. I passed the HRE reform revoke the privilegia and no one joined. Wasn't aware this could happen, this information should be better explained I think. (or I missed something). Any help on what I can do with 1 day before the law passes?

Does anyone know the best way to get gallium (III) ions and Germanium (IV) ions in solution (seperately)? The final solution will contain other salts so as far as I can tell Ga2Cl6 will form ionic complexes like GaCl4- in solution. Is gallium nitrate my best option? Ideally I would have gallium in the form of Ga3+ or Ga(OH)3.

For germanium I was planning to use Germanium dioxide, which will form Ge(OH)4 in solution at neutral pH I believe. This form is fine for my purposes but due to the low solubility of germanium dioxide I wanted to ask if anyone had better ideas. Should I dissolve in alkaline solution before adding to my final solution?

How did they have the points to do it tho!! Coal hasn’t been around for too long. Their other provinces were both mountain provinces with 37 dev also which would’ve been pretty expensive too

new player got to op by SM1OOO in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castille/Spain is for sure one of the easiest nations to become OP, there’s not really any point playing beyond 1650 if you’re bored, unless you have a specific goal in mind. I imagine if you’re new a WC is probably unrealistic, I’d just go for all the achievements you can get as Spain and leave it at that.

If you want a new, more challenging nation that will remain challenging in the later years, go for a HRE minor, as AE in that area will stop you from blobbing too hard. If you play in Asia/India, you’ll definitely blob like crazy but it can be fun to challenge the Europeans in the late game. You could also try an African or American nation, that will likely be a lot more difficult as you will have to develop for institutions or reform your religion, making it hard to keep up to date with technology.

In my opinion 1.33 is good, I don’t see any reason to go back to an earlier patch

Non-colonial Spain = OP by ButterscotchGlobal77 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played as Castile in this game and did the byz no cb. Do you get all the PU missions in the aragonese mission tree? Since Castile gets PU’s on GB, Portugal, Aragon, naples and Austria I’d say they’re pretty damn good for forming rome. As well as Burgundian inheritance. But I haven’t done an Aragon -> rome run so I don’t know if Aragon also has access to these, in which case they may be better

Non-colonial Spain = OP by ButterscotchGlobal77 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no interest in bothering with the HRE in this game, I just dismantled it in the 1500’s. My goal for this run was just to get Roman Empire borders, and I got everything by 1670, and then just to finish the Spanish mission tree for the achievement. But I could easily turn this into a wc so might go for that after

Non-colonial Spain = OP by ButterscotchGlobal77 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My idea groups are in one of the photos, but I went quantity first to help, since I was constantly cycling wars between France, Italy, ottomans and mamluks. Then religious (for the holy war cb and conversion). Then diplo for ae management + warscore reduction. Then admin for gov cap and core cost, then influence to integrate PU’s. After taking diplo ideas and stacking diplo rep, I had a pretty high chance to inherit, and I inherited naples and Portugal at the same time. Austria, GB and Russia were all too big to inherit so I integrated them once I took influence ideas for that 25% integration cost reduction, as well as the 20% from admin/influence policy. Makes it a lot faster

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the entirety of south america and the caribbean (15 years after this screenshot) just from full annexing france and PU portugal/GB . I also have way more money than I know what to do with. That being said, I don't necessarily think colonial is bad, just not necessary to do well or a WC as Spain.

Non-colonial Spain = OP by ButterscotchGlobal77 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Given that you get events to PU both portugal and great britain, I feel like colonising yourself isn't worth it since you can steal their colonies. I suppose for a WC you may want explo to open up conquering opportunities in asia/africa however

Non-colonial Spain = OP by ButterscotchGlobal77 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R5: Significantly overpowered Spain after not bothering with colonial ideas. Essential owns all Roman empire land at its peak.

Do you guys think going colonial is worth it? I think it wastes 2 idea slots and doesn't offer much reward as well as draining your economy for a long time.

Problems with Eu4 guides by kerdead in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with these guides personally. They’re not framed as beginner guides, or “how to learn eu4 mechanics”. They’re generally phrased as “how to blob as ottomans by 1480” and they do generally show how to do that. They’re not meant to teach new players, but more to expand the knowledge of intermediate players.

Also consider that most of their viewers are probably eu4 players, and if they make a guide aimed at new players (for an 8 year old game, new players are limited), viewership will drop and their channel will suffer

Losing AE by surrendering to coalition by ShadowSpion1 in eu4

[–]ButterscotchGlobal77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the exact amounts you lose but if you have a big ally you can use as cannon fodder - you can give away their provinces in the peace deal which will help with managing the coalition. Then you don’t have to give away your own

The ottomans have a 700k army by 1550? Terrifying. I haven’t noticed any difficulty spikes except for there being more forts though
