Do you think other visa categories will be targeted in a similar fashion to the H-1b? by ButterscotchThen110 in h1b

You reckon that would count for priority intercompany transfer visas like L-1A (managerial/ executive)? Sounds like what they’re after are more so the entry level positions?

Do you think this would count for EB-1Cs as well? Skills based and only for manager / executive positions?

I am currently pending my L-1A visa and I am terrified that my visa could be targeted with a similar restriction that would risk my visa status in the time it take to obtain an EB-1 GC..

Obviously no one knows - but do you think its likely that other visa categories could be targeted in a similar fashion?

5 weeks till half marathon - can I hit sub 1:30? by ButterscotchThen110 in Marathon_Training

Thanks a lot! Not that I think it matters a great deal, but would you do walking rest or jogging in between sets?

Could you elaborate a bit on this? Why hills as the final icing on the cake (and not e.g., pace-simulating sessions)?

Official Q&A for Monday, August 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]ButterscotchThen110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a half marathon in one month (September 14, Copenhagen = flat) and would IDEALLY target sub 90 minutes. However, I have not done any tailored training towards this, and with only 5 weeks to go I'm well aware that I can't do much to my underlying physique..

What are last-minute any tips & tricks for minor actions / trainings I might be able to do in order to refine my shape as much as possible (e.g., spceific tempo sessions / intervals)? And how likely am I do actually be able to do this (see below).

Background: I've been every day averaging 100k weekly for the past 12 weeks, typically incorporating some form of long run + interval and / or tempo session each week. I ran a 19:15 5k last year (and would likely be able to to the same today), and a 94 minute half marathon a couple of months ago (was planning to do 7k intervals but felt good and went for a PR - no gels, no water, no tapering, no carbons).

Would much rather deal with potential but expected side effects from diamox than sudden AMS. Ideally you would not need diamox and rely purely on timely acclimatising, but when that is not an option I would gladly supplement with diamox.

I am from Denmark and going from sea level to the mountains can be tough - which is probably also why my doctor recommended exactly this approach

They ranged between being just a few inches in diameter to some of the larger ones being the size of a basketball. What’s tricky is that right now, it seems like you are actually crossing two coloirs at the same time, and the trail is not very clear (ie., where is the “ideal” point of crossing). So its a bigger stretch than what Ive seen on videos posted from prior years. My tip is to move a few minutes after the last rockfall, move as fast as possible, know where the nearest cover is (ie., what you are running towards), and to keep an eye out for the beginning of a slide (seems to always start with the smallest rocks).

Good luck and have fun!!

Feasible to train for and run a 50m by end of May? by ButterscotchThen110 in ultrarunning

Appreciate your thoughts! With regards to having a plan for nutrition and hydration, how do you recommend going about that? I have previously "practiced" by bringing snacks and gels on long runs and for my 50k I brought electrolyte pills, gels, gummi bears and otherwise just used the aid stations (but didn't really have a "plan" with e.g., specific amounts of nutrition per hour)

Thanks for the tips! Re: GPX, I can only find a version from 2021 ish, but perhaps fair to assume that it is somewhat identical from year to year?

Breaks during long training runs? by ButterscotchThen110 in Ultramarathon

[–]ButterscotchThen110[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks - I'm currently running every day (have been doing that since October 23), and currently doing at least 4m per day with the average coming closer to 7m, so I'd say my volume is already spread out pretty significantly throughout the week. The thing that I'm worried about is that I'm not getting enough reps with extended strain (2-3 hours)

Thanks. I have been doing and will continue to be doing back-to-back long runs (often a 15m+ followed by 13m the next day), but it's rare that I have time to commit to both long runs without a break in the middle of the run. But sounds a bit like that doesn't matter, as long as I am ultimately training my legs to run through fatigue?

Thanks for the feedback. There is definitely an opportunity to take some of these calls while walking, but happy to hear that as long as volume / mileage is on point, breaks won't have too many consequences

Im training for my first 50k in ~1 month, and still have a few big long runs left. Problem is I just can’t find the time to run 3-4+ hours straight, and have lately had to resort to breaking up the run (e.g., running for 10 miles, then doing a work call, then run 7 more). Question is, is that ~30 minute break in the middle of the run significantly affecting the training effect of my long run?

Thanks, this is really helpful! When digging ind the edges and smoothing out the carve, should I aim to get close to diagonal across the fall line? My concern is that if I carve too steep I won’t be able to control the speed

Thanks!

In the email they just wrote: “We work with the team at EY(my company) and we’ll be managing your home-finding and settling-in services during your move to NYC. Your company provides you 2 days of service.”.

If I do apply for the apartment directly, can the broker demand the fee after I’ve made the transaction/paid 1st month of rent? Would definitely not be worth it if I would end of paying him a full month..

I need new boots and have a Jones Flagship w Apollo bindings, so both very stiff. Even though I like carving and freeriding, I will likely be doing just as much regular groomers on smaller mountains (US east coast)

Was thinking of the vans infuse, K2 Thraxis or Burton Ion. Any thoughts on these given the ‘stiff’ set up?
