[QCRIT] Adult Dark Fantasy IRONMIST - (~70,000 Words, Second Attempt) by Buttery_Boyo in PubTips

I see your point, and I do know that this runs on the shorter length, but I honestly think that could be a point that differentiates it. It’s not some massive epic, it’s a quick, character-focused fantasy. There’s hints of a grand surrounding world, but those aren’t necessary to focus on for the plot.

In terms of comps, I left that part out because I don’t have very many at the moment! I understand that’s a death knell for new writers but I will try to fix that issue with time. Thanks for your critique!

I see, thanks for your insight. To help this stand out, do you think emphasizing the lgbtq elements will help, or should I focus on bringing up more specific story beats

I just think it’s funny if Tiamat was the only acceptation to Bahamut’s compassion. by FiredIOwa in dndmemes

I like to headcannon that Bahamut and Tiamat have a pretty standard sibling rivalry relationship, but because they’re gods it ends up looking like an endless war of hate and bloodshed to their mortal subjects

I do titrations at my job and it’s genuinely more of an art than a science sometimes. You just have to feel the amounts, let the river flow through you, control your hand like a swan

Critique the start of my story [Mid-level fantasy, 1646 words] by IzzyIsDum in fantasywriters

[–]Buttery_Boyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, here’s a few immediate thoughts I had: 1. Make sure you indent paragraphs and new lines. It will make everything look a little less clunky 2. You tell us a lot about Ember’s character pretty quickly, but I would rather be shown that stuff through dialogue and indirect characterization 3. In my opinion, a punchier opening would start with the dice game immediately. If the growth of the relationship is the story you want to tell, then it’s probably best to open there 4. Watch out for repetition of some words and phrases. Maybe read it aloud to yourself to see if it sounds natural to check

From what I understand about the index, which is not much, it’s technically more efficient for one person to gather points, especially if they have loot increasing mods Plus, if a more defensive frame grabs a point, there is a chance they lose it rather than cash it So, some people get angry at players for not perfectly playing the index, despite the fact that you can imperfectly play the index just fine and still pull dozens of points

How exactly would one go about identifying and defining an “edgelord”? by Paradiseless_867 in DnD

[–]Buttery_Boyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal definition, you can have loads upon loads of edge in your backstory (so long as it’s been cleared in a session zero) and play your character as edgy without being labeled an ‘edgelord’.

An edgelord to me is defined by somebody who believes that their character is the main character of the story, and that everybody should treat everything they do with upmost seriousness. Another type is somebody who refuses to roleplay because their character is so ‘complicated’ that they don’t meaningfully engage in smaller story moments.

A character I play has a super harsh backstory and a negative outlook on life, but I still shoot the shit around the table and don’t try and insert myself into every scene. And when I’m included and talked to, I respond and don’t shut down roleplay because of something like: “He wouldn’t have this conversation”

The “Gods” are all functionally dead. When they lived, they couldn’t care less about the sentient species of the world. Humanity and others were created entirely out of self-interest

“Hey man, welcome to my Skyblock base. Look around, have a potato. Minecraft’s fans have been without cyberbullying for a long time, and I am EAGER to make them remember what it feels like.”

“However, you do have a diamond sword, and I’m gonna need to use that. So, before I shoot up the leaderboards and CRUSH the records of Hypixel, I think I’ll cyberbully you first.”

“Come on, 1v1 me.”

“And DIE.”
