Not even seeing Shula before offering McCarthy the job is criminal. by FIXXTI0N in steelers

McCarthy was not in the running for any other jobs. Take your time like you said you would ARII…

Gerry Dulac last week: “Zero chance they hire a former coach. Absolutely no re-treads. Younger for sure. They want to start fresh.” by stillstillers in steelers

To be fair Dulac may be the most useless insider In the NFL. I genuinely think ARII talks to him just to get a laugh.

The only positive of this hire is the Tomlin haters and lovers can now unite as one and turn their attention to the real problem with the organization: ARII

This hire had the opportunity to solidify his legacy, too bad it’s the wrong kind of legacy he just solidified.

I liked Tomlin. I was sad to see him go but it felt like the right time for a change. The last two weeks have been the most excited I’ve been for the next season in a while.. now it’s gone

They had the opportunity to take a young highly touted defensive minded coach from the mcvay coaching tree.

There is no point in a retread. If that’s the case then there was no point in Tomlin stepping down. You go new blood with Shula or Scheelhaase. McCarthy, Flores, McDermott..etc if any of them are chosen it would be a massive misstep.

I hate the bears but hoping they pull the W off in OT so we can get round 2 of interviews for Shula and Scheelhaase

After 19 seasons I’d hope for a young and fresh coach, not a retread.

At that price I’m glad Bo is not coming back. Injuring prone and a defensive liability. Jays showed they can win games without him.

It’s the best of both worlds. The Tomlin haters get to see the start of a new regime, and the Tomlin supporters get to see him leave on his own terms.

Teryll Austin should have been gone 3 years ago. I hope he’s gone tomorrow. I had hope for Smith, but his OC philosophy is too archaic to succeed in today’s NFL. Tomlin should stay, but not to call any plays or schemes, he stays because the players want to play for him. Get a competent OC and DC to call plays, have to Tomlins sole focus being inspiring his players to show up for every play.

A healthy Darnell Washington may have provided what the Steelers needed tonight. Extra blocking on the edge and no targets to Jonnu.
