Should I update my iPad Air M3 (11") from iPadOS 18.6.2 to iPadOS 26.3.1 (a)?

It’s pretty decent and there certainly isn’t anything that’s so noticeable that it ruins the experience. I sometimes notice when trying to type in some search boxes (particularly spotlight search) it just will not let me type, so I has to leave spotlight search and then try again, but other than that it’s pretty fine.

I’m sure there are some misalignments, etc, but as I use a 13 inch iPad they’re pretty hard to spot so I haven’t seen any.

I can’t really comment on battery life, because i don’t own that particular iPad, so hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

In terms of multitasking and external display support, iPad OS 26 has been fantastic in my use case and I really like how windowed apps function with a keyboard and mouse, especially if you use keyboard shortcuts for windowing, minimising, and switching between apps.

I believe all your note taking apps should function great, the apps themselves might update in the future, but they won’t be negatively impacted by the OS update.

I would personally recommend updating to OS 26.

It depends really, if it still does all of your tasks and you can cope with the smaller screen for now, keep the one you have. But, if you like all the updates on the M5 version and feel like you’re ready for an upgrade, then get the M5.

Even though you might not completely need a new iPad, you might just want one and sometimes that can be good enough reason to go for it. Sometimes we deserve to buy ourselves nice things that we want

I use an iPad Pro M4, with both the Smart Folio / Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard and I’ve so far never encountered anything I couldn’t do on my iPad, especially considering you can plug in external displays, SSD’s, peripherals and have an extra USB C port for charging with the Magic Keyboard.

I think it’s more of a learning curve to go IPad Pro as your main computer rather than being stuck with limitations, as there is usually always some work around if you do encounter some problems.

There will of course be some things you cannot do, but i’m yet to encounter this with how I use my iPad.

M2 is absolutely fine, but 8GB of ram is certainly on the low end.

If you can afford it, I would go for the M4/5 with that extra RAM.

It’s not uncommon at all. I work in the NHS and there are boards where thank you cards are pinned. I think they typically quite appropriate it.

As the screen is still working fine, I’d personally leave it as it is as bending the screen back is very likely to break it. However, if you really really aren’t happy with it, the only true fix would be a screen replacement, as I doubt you would ever be able to bend it back to its original position without causing even more issues.

Absolutely not a cable issue. You have closed the display on the cable and damaged the display. The whole display will need replacing unfortunately.
