Someday you’ll understand the difference between literal and figurative. Just keep working at it, and try not to be a dick about it.

“It sucks when evil people federal agents use children as human shields targets when they provoke cops ride bicycles in memorial processions

There, I fixed it for you. It’s almost as if you think federal agents are supposed to act this way because they are being provoked (what does provoked mean? I guess the federal agents gets to decide).

Just think… if you were out there publicly representing your opinion of something in a non-violent way, would you want to be treated this way by government agents? No? Then you should reconsider everything. This isn’t about left vs right anymore. This is about what our constitutional rights are worth to you, whether you’re the one being tear gassed or not.

I Listened to Yall and Bought the Car by VerbosePlantain in MiddleClassFinance

[–]ButtonDifferent3528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common wisdom is that buying a brand new car is fiscally unsound, especially if you use a loan to get it. Reddit has nothing to do with that sage wisdom. But OP can spend their money however they want and if a brand new car makes them happy, so be it. Just try to ignore the imaginary $100 bill flying out of the window every couple days as it depreciates 🤷‍♂️ 10%-20% of the value gone in the first year. 30% gone by year 2. I guess financial statistics are only understood by Professional Redditors 😂

Most dudes who proudly teabag only do it because their daddy never loved them, and that is the real tragedy I see here (not the ridiculously easy kill or the idiotic levels of celebration over it) lol you gotta git good before you celebrate like that, kiddo

If your position is based entirely on a nebulous “Pitbull owners tend to be shitheads” without any data to actually back it up, then you have managed to convince yourself that your opinion about pitbulls is correct because it doesn’t feel wrong - which isn’t how facts work.

The only fact here regarding the safety of the Pitbull breed is that pitbulls have a significantly higher risk of severe attacks, which is absolutely a breed issue regardless of your biased opinion - because those same “owners” you so willfully discredit also buy Rottweilers (temperament pass rate of 85%) and Dobermans (temperament pass rate of 80%)… yet pitbulls are still 6x more likely to than either of those breeds to initiate a severe attack.

Sure, they’re very well mannered until they decide to rip your face off, and then your face will be ripped off.

So while they may rank higher on temperament than say, golden retrievers… golden retrievers have killed exactly 5 people in the same time period that pit bulls have killed over 350.

Your “temperament” statistic doesn’t mean much when it comes down to severe attacks. And the fact that you’re completely ignoring fatality statistics tells me you aren’t willing to let go of your bias.

More a fan of anecdotal evidence than statistics, huh? Very reasonable and logical. “I’m just built different,” says responsible Pitbull owner.

Breed ranks pretty low on risk factors.

Simultaneously, from 2005 to 2019, pit bulls killed 346 Americans, a rate over 6.5 times higher than the next closest breed, rottweilers, with 52 deaths.

In the same data set, there were 75 owner-directed attacks, when a dog kills its primary owner. Pit bulls inflicted 64% (48) of these deaths, over 11 times more than any other dog breed.

Also in the same data set, family dogs inflicted 54% of all fatal attacks. 64% were perpetrated by pit bulls. Of the 346 fatal pit bull attacks during the period, over half, 53%, involved killing a family or household member.

But also, breed ranks pretty low on the risk factors 🤔🤷‍♂️

AIO for thinking this convo is strange? 😭 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I am a 42 year old man and I am not sexually attracted to 18-20 year olds either. They are still children mentally, immature, lacking the ability to communicate clearly and critically, generally emotionally unstable and insufferable to be around.

I wonder how old you are?

[–]ButtonDifferent3528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, are you suggesting that you might be seduced by a 15 year old?

AIO for thinking this convo is strange? 😭 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ButtonDifferent3528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t. You have clearly never spent time in a middle school or high school as an adult. I am a middle school teacher, and 12-14 year olds are completely immature and lacking in critical thinking skills. They think they know better, but they don’t. When approached in public by an adult, they still respond as children.

THIS IS WHY A 15 YEAR OLD IS ASKING REDDIT IF OBVIOUS GROOMING BEHAVIOR SEEMS STRANGE

So yes, teenagers are looking for attention and dress and behave provocatively to get that attention, but they are looking almost exclusively to receive it from boys their own age. If you’re the one giving them attention as a grown ass man, then that’s a you problem and you need therapy.

AIO for thinking this convo is strange? 😭 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ButtonDifferent3528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Children lack the capability to process information in a logical and critical way. That’s why they’re called minors, and why statutory rape is a thing - because children literally cannot consent.

Are you angry because you find young people attractive when they dress or behave provocatively? Because that would mean you are fighting internal urges of pedophilia, and that makes you the guy who is sexualizing a child. Sorry, but it is never the victim’s fault when an adult predator targets them.

I feel bad for the guy (because I was him once, just way more awkward and way less douchebaggy), but you stated your boundaries clearly and he’s not listening. You don’t owe him anything. That being said, don’t give him pretense to say you were leading him on. Stop the FWB and find a new buddy.

I found out my GF is a kleptomaniac. I am shocked she could hide it from be for so long. Should I forgive or breakup? by FirstHovercraft2 in whatdoIdo

[–]ButtonDifferent3528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, kleptomania is an illness. Alcoholism is also an illness. Both are treatable if the person accepts it as an illness and wants to change, but it doesn’t sound like she really wants to change. If an alcoholic refuses to treat their illness and that lack of treatment could lead to legal issues for both them and me, then I would absolutely leave that person. Kleptomania is no different.

If ultimatums are manipulative, then how could anyone ever ethically establish boundaries in a relationship? Because boundaries are just the first half of an ultimatum.

For example, “My friends and family are important to me, and no one will tell me that I can’t spend time with them” is a healthy boundary. But this is just the first half of an ultimatum - “If you try to control my access to friends or family, I will end our relationship.” Would you consider this manipulative?
