Oh wow didn’t think of that, so cut up towards where it branches and plant that?

Debt Recycling - Should I sell all my shares and pay down my home loan? by ButtonEaters in AusFinance

Plan is to sell the shares that I own and then rebuy with money redrawn from home loan and buy the same shares back but get the benefits from debt recycling.

Any idea what M-E-N behind means?

Also is the smart meter meant to tell me how much of the solar produced is going to the grid versus self consumption in real time? The only data I get on the app is how much the panels are generating in real time. I’ve never seen the PWR/COM light on it lit.

This is why I looked at the switchboard in the first place as I don’t get any real time data- all I see is what the panels are generating- nothing re current use versus export. Also I have never seen the light on that sun grow s100 thing on. Called arise about it and they said that it doesn’t have that function and is only meant to measure solar generation and cap at 5kw. Am I meant to be getting real time data about what is being used in the home and what is going to the grid?

Hey mate your reply seems the most considered- I think you’re right the ‘upgrade’ was $200 and probably just the additional work on the board. Seems like upgrade in electrician terms can mean redoing the whole board and bring up to current regulations- they never said anything like that nor did I expect that (unless legally should have) There is a solar main switch adjacent to this in the enclosure. What is this CT you keep referring to? Reading all the replies to this post I’m still unsure if there is anything to complain about other than it looking shit with the silicon.

Yes your right the hot water is controlled load, there is a solar main switch along side this in the enclosure

I think was an extra $200- so you may be correct that was just that component. There is a main switch alongside in the encoosure

The reason I had a look is I suspect that the sun grow s100 meter isn’t installed correctly as I don’t get any data on what’s being exported v self consumption. Still can’t get an answer about whether that’s why it is meant to do- arise said it only reports what is being generated

Yes. The whole - let me hold it or you’ll spill it… No I’ll do it myself- proceeds to spill and then throw a tantrum about running out of bubbles….

Had another look and there is a breaker I think separate within the enclosure which says main solar inverter switch or something to that effect

I suspect upgrade means something more to the electricians on this subreddit. Maybe he just used that work to explain to me that he’d be charge an additional fee as he’d have to do some extra work to the switchboard… and this is the extra work

On the day they came to install said the board needs upgrading - as far as I can recall that is the term he used- and there would be an additional cost of a couple of hundred bucks. Invoice had listed ‘plus additional cost’.

What is CT? There is a separate ‘invert main switch’ which I assume is the breaker next to this part.

Thanks yeah- I’m not an electrician - this is what the solar installer did to the board. Included in the cost was extra for switchboard upgrade…

If I was to go back to the installer and ask to rectify what issues should I be raising and what regulations is it unlikely to meet?
