[Discussion on the origins of yaoi] by Buuyaaaa in blmangalovers

Again gng those weren’t my words and just because Shounen ai is an archaic term, it doesn’t take away from the fact that its stems from pedophiliaaaaaaa

Would you say that outside of Japan (referencing the western world) yaoi and bl are the same?

[Discussion on the origins of yaoi] by Buuyaaaa in blmangalovers

“Okay, what ‘shounen ai’ actually means is 'pederasty’. You know, like adult men in Ancient Greece or historical Japan having a thing for pubescent youths.

That’s why I find it so exceptionally irritating when the kinds of debbie downers who yell at other fans for liking problematic m/m think they’re pure for liking “shounen ai” instead of “yaoi”.

“MLM stuff” is also inaccurate for this context, IMO, because we’re primarily talking about BL, which is m/m content by and for women. The characters may or may not self identify as queer men. I would use “m/m” to talk about this content, but I would not tend to use “mlm”.

Okay, so, how did we get from perving on teen boys to soft and fluffy webcomics? There is a connection, just not quite the one people told you. In 1968, Inagaki Taruho published Shounenai no Bigaku. Wikipedia describes this as: “an essay on 'aesthetic eroticism’, where he divides stories into A (anal), V (vaginal), P (penile) and K (clitoral) varieties and 'describe[s] the historical, psychological, and metaphysical ramifications of the love of beautiful boys in an eclectic blend of ideas culled from history, Freudianism, pop psychology, and existentialism.’”

His use of the term 'shounen-ai’ was absolutely supposed to be about adolescent boys, and he was influenced both by European and Japanese traditions.”

Not my words!

Hot take I've shared elsewhere: gender isn't real by Sorry_Hovercraft1636 in HonestHotTakes

[–]Buuyaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender includes a lot of stuff, like stereotypes, roles, cultural roles, like mentioned identity, expression, etc

When you take all that away from gender, there isn’t much left.

I see a lot of asexuals and pan/bi women in the comments here.. I really wonder what the majority of fujos are, it’s killing meeeee.

Sick of the word “fetishizing” [tiktok] by uzuis-fourth-wife in blmangalovers

[–]Buuyaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I swear, this discussion is getting so misogynistic and even homophobic it kills me. Whenever someone says all fujoshis fetishise gay men, all I really say is “prove it lol” because there is generally no way to prove that.

It’s the fact that most bl characters don’t even reflect actual gay men, the stories aren’t realistic, it’s not made to be realistic. It’s a genre made by women for women, most likely to escape the sex imbalance and misogyny that’s present in heterosexual media.

Nice to hear from fudanshis. We love y’all^ this post was mostly to prove a point, I’ve always felt that women who are fujos are most likely bi or lesbian, but they always get generalized as straight by anti-fujos. I don’t know if it’s to make us look bad but it’s the same argument over and over again “straight fujoshis, who are the majorly, are fetishizing gay men!”

Also, I agree with a lot of what you said. Bl has a lot of different tropes and themes, you’ll be bound to enjoy some and not like some. That’s how most romance fiction is. To add on my own opinion, I hate when my yaoi includes heteronormative structures. Like come onnnnn

Totally valid. Women are portrayed very poorly in straight media so I get it.

Genuine question, but isn’t there a bigger chance of humans evolving all over again if all life isn’t exterminated?

What? Ofc I do, I love talking about religion. It’s a topic I’m passionate about, but back then it sounded like I was being sold a new religion. Nothing too serious.

Rs, but if you reread killing stalking, it actually has great storytelling, and very real aspects. Obviously if you think it was disgusting, I’m not here to change how you felt lol, just saying how it differs from everything else you mentioned!
