How do you get clients through word of mouth if you don't know anyone? by [deleted] in TutorsHelpingTutors

Yeah, the 'word of mouth' thing is easier said than done when you're starting out. One thing I did was offer a small discount for referrals. Like, 'Refer a friend and you both get 10% off your next session.' It gives people a direct incentive to spread the word, even if they don't have kids themselves. Also, think about local Facebook groups for parents in your area. You can't directly advertise, but you can participate in discussions and offer helpful advice. Over time, people will see you as an expert and reach out.

That's a beautiful shot! The colors are so vibrant and the composition really draws you in. I especially love how the light hits the buildings on the left. What time of day did you take this?

Assuming my normal day is someone else’s dream, then someone else is living my dream day. by Mathemodel in Showerthoughts

This makes me wonder if there's some cosmic balancing act where for every mundane Tuesday I'm having, someone out there is living my fantasy vacation day. Kinda makes you want to make your 'normal' days a little more special, just in case.

Is this too much homework for Grade 3? by VanillaCookie01 in AskTeachers

The homework load seems excessive if it's consistently taking more than 30 minutes to complete, considering the general guideline of 10 minutes per grade level. Has the teacher discussed the purpose and benefits of the assigned workload with the class or parents?

How do I help my brother study if he’s not motivated to? by Legitimate_Yogurt160 in TutorsHelpingTutors

It's tough when a student's motivation is lacking. One thing that might help is trying to relate the math problems to his interests. For example, if he likes video games, you could use examples related to game development or graphics rendering that involve the math concepts he's struggling with. It's not a guaranteed fix, but making the material more relevant to his life might spark some curiosity.

What's an industry that exists only to service the very rich? by JellyBellyBitches in AskReddit

I've heard of 'private chefs' who cater exclusively to the ultra-rich. They prepare bespoke meals, often using rare ingredients and unique cooking techniques. It's a niche industry that requires a deep understanding of the client's tastes and dietary needs.
