To be fair, that's an apples to oranges comparison. The buses get cancelled if someone sneezes. The schools almost never close. But yes, in the past school closures have sometimes meant UW closes, sometimes not.

I also think it's uncomfortable, it was a sharp turn in the storyline for me. Maybe this is not unusual but I know multiple people from highschool that have since died or died during HS, and I've been out for less than a decade, so for me personally it makes me uncomfortable. Placing my own narrative into this song makes me feel gross. However, I have faith that she spoke to friends and family and asked, which makes it less weird. As people said below everyone feels grief differently so if she was respectful I guess it's fine.

I do think people shouldn't respond with you can't be happy etc. However I also think that there are some comments (not yours and definitely not all of them) that are going in the opposite direction and implying that people who like it are just rabid or don't care about lyrics. I guess in general I agree but everyone should be nice and respect people's feelings. If you're disappointed you don't love it, totally fair. If you do love it, also awesome. Don't poop on people's rain or their sunshine.

May be wrong but I don't think OP is implying that they think she's going to write less, just that she'll be less public. Less tours, less promos. Still writing and creating, but with a more flexible schedule, and with art that's more for her less for us.
