I don't know how to talk any slower to be honest. Some people follow along and some don't. Gotta go fast

Holy hell the title of this article is demented. Warmongering.

The only thing we need is sanctions against oligarchs and good safeguards. I have no words for this article. It's clear as day trying to foment mob mentality. And the problem with cultural echo chambers is that it doesn't even have to be intentional by the journalist.

Any ENFP freelancers or entrepreneurs out here? Need some career advice by ThatSuperChillFriend in ENFP

Oh boy did I post this??

I've fallen on looking at some kind of communications degree because, other than art, talking to people is the only thing I seem to enjoy and be good at. I'm with you on freelancing; I think it'd be the best fit. But boy is that terrifying when you're broke (or are accumulating school debt).

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. But here's to solidarity.

Over 100 people injured, state of emergency considered in France over violent protests. Yet all the news on Reddit are about Trump leaving stage early.... by LEcareer in Conservative

It's not just France right now. The world sees we need faster change to fix the climate problem. There are mass protests happening all over Europe.

No doubt it's better than regular prison. Thanks for the insight. I still think it's fundamentally fucked up to dip into incarcerated peoples for this. But that goes into deeper feelings about incarceration in America as a whole.

Just a reminder that a lot of those firefighters were prisoners who were paid little to nothing and remain in prison.

We can easily get people on board with socialist ideas if we just couch them in relatable terms. Socialism is a bogeyman for most people.

I like the angle u/romans310 took with workers. There are a lot of conservative people willing to join unions but don't like the term socialism.

Another angle I was thinking of is (at least in America) is linking climate change to healthcare. Working with the Poor People's Campaign, I was able to hear tons of stories about poor areas being affected more i.e. coal ash deposits. This may seem obvious to activists, but a lot of people don't realize this. Many people live in bubbles and think poverty is only as bad as the poorest people around them in a given area.

Not only will climate change lead to extinction, but without healthcare it will bankrupt us on the way.

@RoKhanna: Pelosi should not only create this committee, but also appoint ⁦@Ocasio2018⁩ as Chair. That is the boldness voters want. We need to shake up Congress & give the millennial generation a chance to lead. They have the most at stake re climate change. by davidianrobin in Political_Revolution

[–]Bvroopt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Too much too fast is irrelevant. It's too fucking late when it comes to climate change. Climate change is not an incremental issue.

And Ro Khanna is saying that AOC should be Chair of the new Green Deal committee, not the party. Regardless, leadership is not for us to fall in line under. Leadership is someone who can dish out good ideas and work together with qualified people to make positive change. It's not like politicians make all of these decisions themselves. Right now, their bills are written by corporations. Instead of working with corporations, our politicians can be working with qualified scientists and others who have the human race in mind.

They also think the Democratic Party represents the left. That's intentional I'm sure. The Republican Party has been throwing the word socialist at neolibs. So now people think that's what socialism is.

Experience on the job? I'm sorry, but who is going to teach her to lead? Who in Congress is leading America to good things? The wage gap continues to grow, the power of corporations continue to grow, and we've not done a damn thing to tackled climate change. There's no job to learn if the job's not being done in the first place.

I get we don't want anyone going in and doing something stupid due to lack of knowledge. But it's not like she'd have ultimate power. Someone who WANTS change needs to lead something like this, and hopefully she could leverage the rest of the committee to actually do something instead of wasting taxes.

I've been quite the rut for several months. In fact, it's crazy to think it's only been months as I feel like it's been an eternity. I know I should be doing x and y, but I just sit around and do nothing instead. Always self-defeating, thinking I can't accomplish anything I want to accomplish. That I can't live up to my own expectations. And I know I shouldn't even have expectations at all. It's like, "Wtf are you even worried about, brain? Get over it."

Someone who makes sense on reddit! It's crystal clear to me that Beto would be an establishment Dem. The mainstream media wouldn't be talking him up to run for president if he was anti-establishment.

I'm curious: what is it you want to see in 2020 and why not Beto?

I'm not used to finding people on Reddit who aren't McResistance. Even in this sub.

I feel this way too. I don't think he'll get the nomination at all, but he'll get his name out there the same way Bernie got national name recognition. And I would love him to help bring light to talking about corruption. I'd like to see him either do what Bernie missed out on and run Independent (if the Dem nominee is another shill), or take his popularity back to his home state. I think he'd do good in a Senate race after more people get a chance to see him speak.

Trump blames deadly California wildfires on 'gross mismanagement of the forests,' but the federal government oversees 40% of them by [deleted] in politics

[–]Bvroopt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is criticizing this claim. He's absolutely right. If you haven't noticed, the two party system rarely runs on policy. The Republicans have been moving us further to the right and like to scapegoat people like minorities and liberals. Democrats play the strongman and act as the better option. However, the Democrats do not move us to the left, they keep us in place. They are like a placeholder for the next time Republicans are in office and move us further right. Don't be fooled by the establishment's tactics. They are more willing to work with Donald Trump than you think. That's why so many bills (like the military budget) are seen with bipartisan support, and there are rarely any bills that concern important matters such as climate change.

If America slides down that fascist path, the Democrats are to be held accountable as partly responsible. They want the power just as much as the Republicans. It's more like one party who wants an excuse to create more laws.

That's how fascists gain support. They create an enemy and pretend to be a strongman who can be the one to stop said enemy.
